Panthers extend RB Jonathan Stewart
Stewart under contract through 2018

On Friday, the team announced the one-year extension of running back Jonathan Stewart, locking him in through 2018. Stewart, 30, has battled injuries often throughout his lengthy career but rushed for 824 yards and nine touchdowns last season and was a Pro-Bowler in 2015. (Charlotte Observer)

FFToday's Take: Stewart was set to count over $8 million against the cap so the extension will likely lessen that number plus add another year of control for the Panthers. Carolina is said to be in the running back market and could select Leonard Fournette with the 8th overall pick.
