| Denver eyeing committee backfield Vance Joseph wants RBs to share the load By: Doug Orth | Jul 19 2018, 5:50 pm
| Each season from 2012-16, two Broncos running backs had at least 100 carries. HC Vance Joseph wants a return to that divided workload.
“We want two or three guys to be our main core backs,” Joseph said after minicamp last month. (The Denver Post)
FFToday's Take: While this doesn't burst the Royce Freeman balloon, it does take some air out of it and means the rookie will have to be dominant in preseason action to get the kind of workload owners desire. By most accounts, Devontae Booker appears to be a slight favorite to start the season, but it sounds like the Broncos will very much try to ride the "hot hand." It's very possible Freeman, Booker and De'Angelo Henderson will be no better than flex options in seasonal leagues barring injury.
