John Idzik named Jets GM -- Fri Jan 18 6:55 pm --
Formerly the Seahawks' vice president of football administration | The Jets landed their new general manager Friday after a three-week search.
The team and Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik agreed to terms, making Idzik the team’s new GM, the team announced. Idzik comes to the Jets after six seasons with the Seahawks, where he managed the team’s salary cap and was its lead negotiator. The Jets fired Mike Tannnenbaum on Dec. 31 after seven years on the job. They interviewed at least 10 candidates for the job before settling on Idzik, who interviewed with the team twice, the last time on Wednesday.
“After a thorough search in which we met many qualified and outstanding candidates, it was clear to me that John was the right choice,” Johnson said. (New York Post)
FF Today's Take: You can bet that the main duty Idzik will be faced with this offseason will be reconciling the New York Jets' quarterback situation.
