TEN nearing deal with Gregg Williams     -- Sun Jan 27 9:25 pm --

"Bountygate" instigator eyeing second tour of duty with club
The Titans are interested in hiring suspended former Saints DC Gregg Williams for a spot on the team’s coaching staff. Williams, who previously worked as an assistant with the organization, also wants to rejoin the Titans, but he has not been reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. If that occurs, Williams is expected to join the team as a defensive assistant. If Williams is hired, indications are defensive coordinator Jerry Gray would remain in his role with the team. Williams and Gray have worked together previously with the Titans, Redskins and Bills. (NashvilleTennessean)

FF Today's Take: Obviously, Tennessee needs to get some kind of idea from Goodell about how much longer Williams will be suspended before anything can be made official. The Titans were incredibly disappointing on defense last season, so any guidance or support Williams can provde Gray might just be worth the trouble.
