Rice's hip injury not considered serious-- Mon Sep 16 6:15 pm --
Will be re-evaluated prior to Week 3 game vs. Texans
Ravens Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice's strained left hip flexor isn't regarded as serious, according to coach John Harbaugh. He said Rice didn't have a MRI, which is considered a positive indicator of his status.
Harbaugh said Rice will probably be rested in practice and then re-evaluated by the weekend as to whether he can play Sunday against the Houston Texans. (Baltmore Sun)
FF Today's Take:Rice hasn't missed a game since rookie season in 2008, so the odds are high he'll be in the lineup in Week 3. Of bigger concern has to be his 2.9 yard-per-carry average and 11 receptions for just 44 yards. Thanks to Rice's second-half injury on Sunday, backup Bernard Pierce has out-carried Rice 28-25 through two games. Pierce would assume feature-back duties and be a fine RB2 in all formats if Rice was to miss a game.
