Browns to name starting QB by 3rd preseason game

Q: So the target date for naming a starter is still up in the air? A: “Yeah, it’s definitely still up in the air. It could be sooner, and that’s something we’re going to discuss in that meeting. It’ll be before the third preseason game. I just don’t have a date. I don’t know if I’ll set a date and kind of paint ourselves into a date, but it will be sooner than the third preseason game.” (Akron Beacon Journal)

FFToday's Take: Browns coach Mike Pettine wants to have his starting QB named before the most important preseason game. Brian Hoyer appears to be the frontrunner at the moment but Johnny Manziel has more than a fighting chance to win the job during camp. Without Josh Gordon in the mix, its hard to envision either one of these QBs as more than a backup for your fantasy team.
