Gates expects a reduced role in 2015
Admits he played more than expected in 2014

“With injuries and whatnot, I played a little bit more than they expected me to play last season,” he says. “I was playing the whole game. How I feel next year, it depends on how much volume they have me doing. I’d like to come in on third-and-7s, red zones, those situations. That’s what my contribution is at anyway.” (SI.com)

FFToday's Take: Antonio Gates finished second in fantasy points among tight ends last season thanks to twelve trips to the endzone and multiple injuries to Ladarius Green (hamstring, concussion, ankle). It's rare that you hear a player suggest that his snaps be reduced but it's a logical move if Gates wants to extend his career. Barring injury, we should see Green on the field more in 2015.
