With a major void at the backup running back position behind Darren McFadden, the Raiders acquired Goodson from the Panthers in the offseason. Goodson was barely used in 2011 after playing surprisingly well in extensive playing time in 2010. With injuries in the Panthers backfield, Goodson started three games, posting two 100-yard rushing games and topping 100 total yards in all three. In 2012, Goodson will battle second year player Taiwan Jones to backup McFadden and the winner of that battle should be considered a high-upside handcuff given McFadden’s lengthy injury history. Even if Goodson loses that battle, he could be a solid flex play in larger leagues in the event McFadden goes down given Jones’ diminutive stature and Goodson’s superior skills as a short yardage runner.

Jets running back Goodson arrested -- Fri May 17 11:30 am --
Handgun and marijuana charges | Jets running back Mike Goodson was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana early Friday morning in New Jersey. Goodson, who was in the passenger seat, and Garant Evans were found in an SUV that was stopped in the left lane of Route 80 in Denville, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson said Friday. Police were responding to a 911 call at 3:20 a.m. and discovered a "strong odor" of marijuana when they found Goodson, the spokesperson said. Both Goodson and Evans apeared intoxicated, the spokesperson said. (New York Newsday)
FF Today's Take: Goodson was signed by the Jets this off-season to a three-year contract and was set to be the backup to Chris Ivory. This incident will likely result in a suspension and opens the door for Bilal Powell and/or Joe McKnight.
| | Jets acquire RB Ivory from Saints -- Fri Apr 26 9:00 pm --
Saints receive a fourth-round pick | In a much-anticipated move, the New Orleans Saints traded running back Chris Ivory to the New York Jets for a fourth-round pick during Friday night's portion of the NFL draft. "It's an opportunity for me to really get the carries that I deserve," Ivory said Friday night. "I put the work in every day and every week. I just feel like it's my time." (Times Picayune)
FF Today's Take: Ivory will get his wish and become the lead back in the Jets offense with Mike Goodson and Bilal Powell playing supporting roles. He'll have RB2 value but a rebuilding Jets team with minimal weapons and a potential rookie under center could put a damper on his numbers.
