Continuing their aggressive offseason blitz, the New England Patriots have agreed to trade their 2017 first-round draft choice to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for receiver Brandin Cooks, sources tell ESPN's Dianna Russini.
The first-round pick is No. 32 overall, the last selection of the round. The Patriots also will trade a third-round pick (No. 103) to New Orleans and receive the Saints' fourth-round pick (No. 118), sources tell Russini.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:This deal was rumored over the last couple days and now it's complete. The juicy part is CB Malcolm Butler remains in New England. The signing of Ted Ginn Jr. made a Cooks trade more likely and now the Patriots have acquired one of most explosive young receivers in the league. Michael Thomas and Willie Snead see their fantasy value inflated in New Orleans while Julian Edelman's value will take a hit in New England.
Michael Floyd expected to be inactive-- Sun Feb 5 8:00 am --
A healthy scratch, other areas of need
Barring an unexpected change, I'm told Patriots wide receiver Michael Floyd will be inactive for Super Bowl LI as the team doesn't have the luxury to carry five players at the position on the 46-man game-day roster. It needs the spots for other areas, such as special teams and goal-line situations.(ESPN)
