2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
With Josh McDaniels at the controls and Sam Bradford coming off an impressive rookie season, there were high hopes for the Rams offense entering 2011. Unfortunately, the offense fell flat as Bradford struggled through an injury marred campaign and McDaniels stubbornly refused to alter his offensive approach despite having an array of offensive players ill-suited to carry out his marching orders. Bradford missed six games with a high ankle sprain but struggled mightily in his ten starts, throwing for just 2,164 yards and six touchdowns. McDaniels was fired after the season and replaced by former Jets offensive coordinator Brian Scottenheimer. Scottenheimer will employ a version of the west coast offense and that bodes well for Bradford, who excelled as a rookie in Pat Shurmurís WCO. While Bradford is expected to take a leap forward in 2012, it is doubtful he will be a useful fantasy option. The Rams scored 16 touchdowns last season and lost their top wide receiver (Brandon Lloyd) and the offensive line has significant issues once again. How many touchdowns are in order for the Rams in 2012? Canít be too many more than 16. That makes it pretty hard to predict a breakout season for Bradford in 2012. He remains a solid option in dynasty formats but he is a low end QB2 in redraft formats.

Bradford to sit out preseason game vs Colts     -- Fri Aug 14 4:05 pm --

QB will suit up next week against the Ravens
Sam Bradford was preparing to make his debut in a Philadelphia Eagles uniform Sunday. On Friday morning, coach Chip Kelly gave Bradford some surprising news. Bradford will not play against the Indianapolis Colts. Instead, he will practice against the Baltimore Ravens next week, then play in Saturdayís preseason game against the Ravens. "Obviously, I wanted to be out there," Bradford said. "I was preparing to be out there. This morning, he sat down and explained it to me. Thatís up to him. Iíll be ready to roll next week out there against the Ravens. "This has nothing to do with the (condition of his) knee. I think this was his plan from the beginning." Bradford tore the ACL in his left knee in October of 2013. Last summer, he sat out the St. Louis Ramsí first preseason game. He played in the second game and started the third game. During that game, in Cleveland, Bradford tore his left ACL again. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: Kelly has been known to produce high-powered offenses, and Bradford could benefit significantly from his coach's expertise this season, if he stays healthy. That is a major "if" though, as Bradford has only played in 49 of a possible 80 career regular season games since being drafted first overall by the Rams in 2010.
Sam Bradford getting contract extension?     -- Tue Aug 4 9:00 am --

Eagles already working with QB to shore up short-term deal
The Philadelphia Eagles have interest in tying starting quarterback Sam Bradford to the franchise beyond the upcoming season and have begun discussing a contract extension, according to sources. Eagles coach Chip Kelly has Bradford taking the first-team reps at training camp ahead of Mark Sanchez, his primary competition for the starting position. Bradford is coming off the second ACL injury of his career, but Kelly wants a quarterback around whom he can build his team, and Bradford has made a strong early impression. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: Despite the concerns about Bradford's injury history, Kelly recognizes the potential for Bradford to be a franchise quarterback. It's a very good sign for fantasy owners interested in taking a risk and drafting the former No. 1 overall pick from 2010. While it's important he stay healthy and we see what he can do in Kelly's offense, there's at least potential for a huge breakout from Bradford, who's making friends quickly in Philly.
Injury Bradford unlikely to suffer another ACL tear     -- Mon Jul 27 5:35 pm --

Kelly: new QB's chances of avoiding re-injury at 88-90 percent
The word the Eagles' doctors received from the Rams' doctors was that the 27-year-old Sam Bradford, coming off the second tear of his left ACL in less than a year's time, "was fine" and "was progressing." Further, there was no cartilage issues in the knee. On both occasions, it was just the ACL that was damaged. The Eagles did their own independent research as well and reached the conclusion that when it comes to ACLs, there is a 10-to-12 percent chance of re-injury. "So thatís an 88-to-90 percent chance that theyíre going to be successful,Ē said Kelly. (Philly Mag: Birds 24/7)

FF Today's Take: Philly Mag: Birds 24/7 went on to say that it spoke with Dr. James L. Carey, who cited studies that show the probability of re-tearing a reconstructed ACL is about three to six percent. Meanwhile, the chances of tearing the other knee - or the "native ACL" - is higher, around nine to 12 percent - closer to the figures that Kelly used. Just like he was for the Eagles, Bradford is well worth the risk in fantasy drafts as a potential QB1 coming off the board around the 11th round.
Injury Bradford on track for start of training camp     -- Thu Jul 23 6:00 pm --

QB is reportedly "looking great"
According to a person familiar with the situation who requested anonymity, Sam Bradford is "looking great", has been in the rehab room close to every day this summer and should be ready to go when training camp opens. That means Bradford should be out on the field for 11-on-11 drills for the start of training camp. "If I'm not ready for 11 on 11 by training camp, then something has gone horribly wrong,'' Bradford said. "That's the plan right now. We're going to keep plugging away and be ready when camp starts." (

FF Today's Take: A healthy Bradford is the odds-on favorite to hold off Mark Sanchez and win the Eagles' quarterback competition. The bigger question will be whether or not Bradford's body - and specifically his left ACL - will cooperate. If he stays on the field for all 16 games for only the third time in his career, Bradford has a great shot of becoming a top-10 fantasy quarterback in redraft leagues this season.
