When Adrian Peterson suffered a torn ACL in Week 16 last season, it appeared that Gerhart, the Viking’s second round selection in the 2010 draft, would finally get an opportunity to strut his stuff, at least early in the 2012 season. Unfortunately for Gerhart, he suffered an MCL tear and off-season reports indicated that Peterson is ahead of schedule in his recovery and may be ready to play on opening day. Those factors combined relegate Gerhart to little more than Peterson’s handcuff – barring a setback in Peterson’s recovery. At best, Gerhart may be a useful flex option for the early part of the season until Peterson is fully recovered.
Jags OC speaks about T.J. Yeldon-- Wed Jun 3 7:15 am --
Rookie will likley be lead back in Jacksonville
Greg Olson: “He was a playmaker and he played big in big games. He’s a very knowledgeable, intelligent player at the running back position and Alabama runs a Pro-Style offense and we were able to see him do things protection-wise and route running-wise and blocking [-wise] that will translate to this level of football. … [Playing every down] would be asking a lot of any player. I wouldn’t put it past him. He’s another real self-starter and hard worker.”(Florida Times Union)
FF Today's Take:It sounds like T.J. Yeldon will begin the season getting the majority of the early-down workload with Toby Gerhart spelling the rookie on third-downs. Yeldon could be used as a workhorse by mid-season but his fantasy upside will be capped by the mediocre nature of the Jags offense. Yeldon's current ADP is Round 5.06 (RB26) in standard scoring leagues.
