Given an opportunity to start in 2011, Jones was a major disappointment, failing to establish himself opposite Steve Johnson. The Bills were high on the former undrafted free agent out of Youngstown State but Jones caught just 23 of 46 targets in eight games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in Week 11. He has solid size and better than average speed but has displayed little after the catch ability, averaging just 10.8 yards per reception over his first two years in the league. Jones will have to hold off David Nelson, Marcus Easley and 2012 4th round pick T.J. Graham to hold onto his starting position. Look for the Nelson to spend plenty of time in the slot and for the team to use several players lining up outside with Johnson in 2012. Unless Jones wins the job outright with an impressive preseason, he is not worth owning in redraft leagues.

Pats add another receiver, Hawkins -- Sat May 11 9:00 am --
Former Titans wideout headed to New England | The Patriots now have 12 wide receivers on their roster after signing free agent Lavelle Hawkins to a 2-year deal. (Boston Globe)
FF Today's Take: The Patriots will be releasing at least a couple of the veterans wideouts they signed as Danny Amendola and the two rookies (Aaron Dobson & Josh Boyce) are likely to make the roster. That leaves Donald Jones, Micheal Jenkins Julian Edelman (foot) and Hawkins battling for roster spots.
| | Patriots add receiver Jenkins -- Thu Mar 28 5:35 pm --
Former Viking headed to New England | The New England Patriots have signed free-agent wide receiver Michael Jenkins, the team announced Thursday night.
Terms of the deal are not yet known. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take: Jenkins was released by the Vikings this off-season and will join a revamped wide receiver corps in New England that includes Danny Amendola and Donald Jones. He'll be a fringe fantasy prospect and will likely be on the roster bubble in training camp.
| | Donald Jones, new target for Brady -- Fri Mar 15 11:15 am --
Patritos sign former Bills receiver Donald Jones | Patriots signed former Bills WR Donald Jones. (Adam Schefter)
FF Today's Take: Jones was a restricted free agent but wasn't tendered a contract so no draft pick compensation was due. He's worth keeping an eye and may be worth a late-round flier should he make the roster. At best he'll be a fourth receiving option behind Gronkowski, Hernandez and Amendola.
| | Bills' Nelson won't be tendered -- Sun Feb 24 1:05 pm --
Buffalo will have new look to receiving corps | The Buffalo Bills will not tender wide receiver David Nelson a contract offer, making him an unrestricted free agent, a league source said Sunday. Nelson is coming off a torn ACL, which he hurt Sept. 9 against the Jets. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take: The Bills are expected to have a revamped receiving corps after letting Donald Jones go earlier this month. Nelson confirmed on his twitter account today that the Bills will not offer him a contract. He will become an unrestricted free agent.
