Watkins appears to be on track for Week 9 -- Thu Nov 5 6:25 pm --
No timetable for Harvin
|Percy Harvin may be in the building but he's not on the practice field yet for the Buffalo Bills. Listed officially with a knee injury, he hasn't been on the sideline let alone the field yet. Earlier this week, HC Rex Ryan said the receiver "desperately" wants to play but conversations apparently continue between Harvin, the training staff and the team on his short- and long-term future.
On the bright side for Buffalo, Sammy Watkins (ankle) continues to practice and get a lot of work in with Tyrod Taylor during the segment of practice open to reporters. (Buffalo News)|
FF Today's Take: Regarding Harvin, there is no guarantee he'll see the field again this season. As far as Buffalo's offense is concerned, however, the returns of Watkins and Taylor are a much bigger deal. Last year's No. 4 overall pick has endured an injury-plagued second season, but he can still be a game-changing force if he is back for good. With Harvin out, Watkins could see the 10 targets per game he asked for publicly a few weeks ago.
Tyrod Taylor expected to be ready for Week 9 -- Mon Nov 2 11:19 am --
Rex on Tyrod Taylor: "We expect him 100 percent this game." (Tyler Dunne on Twitter)
FF Today's Take: In addition to the Bills quarterback, running back Karlos Williams (concussion) is expected back to face the Dolphins in Week 9. Taylor will be a borderline QB1 while Williams will likely play in a backup role to LeSean McCoy.
Tyrod Taylor, Sammy Watkins out for Week 7 -- Thu Oct 22 9:30 am --
EJ Manuel makes second straight start
For the second straight week, EJ Manuel will start at quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Tyrod Taylor's knee has not healed as quickly as the team had hoped, so the 2013 first-round pick gets the nod. (Buffalo News)
FF Today's Take: Taylor was not stepping into his throws according to Rex Ryan so it's another start for Manuel who went 28 of 42 for 263 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT against the Bengals last week. With Watkins out, Chris Hogan and Robert Woods will be the top two wide receivers. TE Charles Clay should see plenty of targets as well.
Tyrod Taylor "optimistic" he'll play Sunday -- Tue Oct 20 11:25 am --
Bills starting QB may offer best bet in London vs. Jags
Vic Carucci on Twitter: "Tyrod Taylor says he's feeling good & optimistic about playing Sunday. Says he has no limitations from knee injury." (Twitter)
FF Today's Take: Sprained MCLs can be tough to define and set a timetable for. Taylor said he expects to practice on Wednesday and listed as a limited participant in practice all last week. While there were some rumblings he'd be active as an emergency quarterback against the Bengals, he wasn't. Both signs indicate Taylor could be ready in time to face the Jaguars, but he is questionable at best. Taylor's status will be updated throughout the week.
LeSean McCoy probable, Taylor questionable -- Fri Oct 16 12:01 pm --
Workload for McCoy unclear
LeSean McCoy: "I just want to go out there and see what I can do. ... I look forward to playing." Says they'll talk tomorrow about workload. (Mike Rodak on Twitter)
FF Today's Take: McCoy was able to practice on a limited basis this week. With the team missing Karlos Williams (concussion) and Anthony Dixon being a less than desirable option, McCoy is going to give it a go. It's going to be hard for fantasy owners to trust him as a RB2 and his risk for re-injury is high. Tyrod Taylor will likely be inactive this week. Expect EJ Manuel to start at quarterback.
Tyrod Taylor could miss Wk 6 with knee injury -- Tue Oct 13 1:15 pm --
EJ Manuel likely to start
Tyrod Taylor could miss multiple games with an MCL sprain suffered on a horse-collar tackle Sun. Bills will prepare EJ Manuel to start Sun. (Jason LaCanfora on Twitter)
FF Today's Take: Taylor has been a nice surprise ranking No.5 among all QBs in FPts per game. Manuel will be a downgrade for fantasy owners as he lacks the play-making ability Taylor has shown early in the season.
Bills going wth Tyrod Taylor as starting QB -- Mon Aug 31 10:26 am --
Running ability makes Taylor an intriguing QB2
Bills are going w Tyrod Taylor as their starting a QB. (Jay Glazer on Twitter)
FF Today's Take: Matt Cassel has proven his mediocre abilities, EJ Manuel has failed to impress so head coach Rex Ryan turns to the dual-threat abilities of the unproven Taylor. He's a QB2 for fantasy purposes and will have above-average talent surrounding him once LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Percy Harvin (hip) recover from their injuries.
