Rick Dennison set to become Bills' new OC-- Thu Jan 19 7:25 pm --
Longtime Broncos OL coach/play-caller
The Buffalo Bills have announced that the team has agreed to terms for Rick Dennison to become the team's offensive coordinator.(BuffaloBills.com)
FF Today's Take:After flirting with Greg Olson initially, Buffalo lands a solid veteran play-caller in Dennison, who helped mold some of Denver's great offensive lines in the late 90s. He was the QB coach in Baltimore in 2014 when Tyrod Taylor was still Joe Flacco's backup, so perhaps Taylor will stick around after all. Dennison has been more of a run-oriented play-caller throughout his career, so LeSean McCoy owners should be fine with this hire.
Tyrod Taylor a candidate for surgery?-- Thu Dec 29 6:40 pm --
FF Today's Take:The Buffalo News reported Thursday that Taylor has been dealing with a "severe groin injury" for the better part of a month, so the Bills may be forced to stick with him since his contract calls for a guaranteed $30.75 M if he cannot pass a physical by the start of the new league year (early March). Buffalo GM Doug Whaley apparently feels he can do better than Taylor at quarterback, but it's hard to see them getting a better option in this year's draft or via free agency.
Tyrod Taylor to the bench, EJ Manuel to start-- Tue Dec 27 11:00 am --
Bills don't want to risk injury to Taylor
The Buffalo Bills are planning to bench Tyrod Taylor in their regular-season finale against the New York Jets and start EJ Manuel at quarterback, league sources have told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Bills are at risk for the $30.75 million remaining on Taylor's contract that would become guaranteed if he suffered a significant injury.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:The Bills are getting a jump on 2017 after firing head coach Rex Ryan, defensive assistant Rob Ryan. The switch at quarterback appears to be a business decision as they would owe Taylor the remainder of his contract if he gets injured. The Bills face the Jets in New York on Sunday.
