Desperate for help at the quarterback position and unable to acquire a solid veteran free agent to bolster the position, the Dolphins used the 8th pick in the 2012 draft to acquire Tannehill. The Texas A&M product is a converted wide receiver and scouting reports indicate he is a raw prospect who will require extensive seasoning before becoming a solid NFL starting quarterback. Unfortunately for Miami fans, Tannehill may not be afforded the luxury of time given the state of the Dolphins quarterback depth chart. Veteran retreads Matt Moore and David Garrard are Miamiís other options and neither is considered a viable long-term option at the position. That means Tannehill will likely join the starting lineup sooner than he should and the Dolphins passing attack will take its lumps with him under center. Considering the teamís lack of talent at the wide receiver position where the current starters (Brian Hartline and Davone Bess) wouldnít start for nearly any other team in the league, Tannehill will have little help once he joins the starting lineup. Avoid owning Tannehill in 2012 but consider him a mid-tier prospect in dynasty leagues.
Tannehill not expected to need surgery-- Mon Dec 12 12:35 pm --
Dolphins QB avoided ACL tear
Ryan Tannehill only sprained the ACL and MCL in his left knee, coach Adam Gase said at his Monday morning press conference. The fear after the game Sunday was that he tore it. However, an MRI revealed that he avoided a full, catastrophic tear. He is not expected to need surgery that would keep him out for six to nine months.(Miami Herald)
FF Today's Take:This is good news for the Dolphins but the sprained ligaments will likely keep Tannehill out a few weeks. Expect Matt Moore to start Week 15 against the Jets.
Tannehilll scheduled for MRI Monday-- Sun Dec 11 8:00 pm --
Teams fears torn ACL
Head coach Adam Gase said the team fears Ryan Tannehill tore his ACL in the left knee. That would mean Tannehill is done for the season. An MRI is scheduled for Monday morning to confirm.](Miami Herald)
FF Today's Take:Tannehill threw for 195 yards and 3 TDs before taking a hit in the fourth quarter that will likely end his season. We should get confirmation of his injury on Monday or Tuesday. If Tannehill is out, Matt Moore would take over as the starting quarterback.
