A.J. Green has "a little bit more than turf toe"-- Thu Oct 9 5:25 pm --
WR almost certainly out Week 6, if not beyond
A.J. Greenís Pro Bowl toe is now in the hands of a blue-ribbon panel of doctors and while Bengaldom holds its collective breath.
Wednesdayís MRI is going to send him to another consultation with one of the nationís leading foot specialists when he meets with Cincinnati doctor James Amis on Thursday. Itís believed the MRI again showed no tears or breaks, but heís obviously still having discomfort in the ligament under the sesamoid bone in the ball of the foot underneath the big toe.(Bengals.com)
FF Today's Take:HC Marvin Lewis told former NFL player Ross Tucker on his podcast that Green has "a little bit more than (turf toe)". Turf toe is a difficult enough condition to play through, so an injury more serious than that could be damning for Green's 2014 prospects. In the short term, Mohamed Sanu should be the clear top option among Bengals' receivers, especially since Marvin Jones is not close to returning. Dane Sanzenbacher is also worth considering in PPR leagues as well.
A.J. Green leaves practice on cart-- Wed Oct 8 2:05 pm --
Aggravated his toe injury
A.J. Green appeared to aggravate the toe injury that kept him out against the Falcons.
During the stretching period of practice open to the media, Green appeared injured and visibly upset. He threw off his helmet and shoe in disgust and was eventually taken off on a cart. He was able to walk, but with a limp.
FF Today's Take:We'll have to wait for further information but it appears Green aggravated his toe injury. Marvin Jones (ankle) also missed practice today and doesn't appear close to playing. Mohamed Sanu and Dane Sanzenbacher would likely be the starting receivers if both Green and Jones are out.
WR Marvin Jones sidelined with broken foot-- Mon Aug 11 6:05 pm --
Expected to miss as much as 5-6 weeks
The big injury has finally hit the Bengals this preseason when they revealed Monday that WR Marvin Jones had a pin put in his fifth metatarsal, indicating some kind of fracture that HC Marvin Lewis says will keep him out ďa couple of weeks.Ē
Jones could be out at least five weeks and probably six. WR Mohamed Sanu, the man that replaces Jones in the starting lineup, had a similar injury with five weeks left in the 2012 season and was lost for the year and he didnít play in the postseason.(Bengals.com)
FF Today's Take:Jones' fantasy stock likely took a bit of a hit when new run-centric OC Hue Jackson took over for Jay Gruden this offseason, but this news takes a lot of luster off a player that had some low-end fantasy WR3 appeal. It is a bit ironic that Sanu suffered a similar injury last season and stands to benefit the most from his absence. Consider Jones as a late-round flyer at best now and Sanu as a late-round sleeper if Jones is eventually placed on the PUP list.
