Injury Still no starter named between Hoyer and Mallett     -- Sun Aug 23 10:08 am --

Houston QB competition in 'dead heat'
Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer each had a chance Saturday night to show he should be the Texans' starting quarterback. But after a less-than-thrilling exhibition against the Broncos, the competition to earn the job remains even. (Houston Chronicle)

FF Today's Take: There's only three weeks left before the start of the regular season, and the tie atop the quarterback depth chart is a major concern. Both QBs are flawed, and these competitions rarely end well. Neither may be a viable fantasy option except for the deepest of two-QB leagues, but the fantasy value of DeAndre Hopkins also hinges on the confidence and ability of the starter.
Hopkins likely to be ready for training camp     -- Mon Jun 8 5:30 pm --

Continuing rehab from February wrist surgery
DeAndre Hopkins hasn't practiced in OTAs as he rehabs. O'Brien thinks he'll be ready for training camp, but isn't sure exactly when. (Tania Ganguli on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: Chalk this up in the better-safe-than-sorry category for the Texans. After HC Bill O'Brien went so far as to call him "one of the best in the league" in early May, Hopkins is poised for another huge step forward after breaking out to the tune of 76-1,210-6 last year despite the presence of Andre Johnson (85 catches in 2014) and less-than-desirable quarterback play. Johnson is now a Colt and the combination of Cecil Shorts and Jaelen Strong doesn't figure to fill that void, so Hopkins could easily push 90-100 receptions.
