| Andre Johnson remains day-to-day -- Wed Dec 10 5:50 pm --|
In concussion protocol
|Wide receiver Andre Johnson and tight end Garrett Graham continue to be day-to-day, Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Wednesday.
O’Brien was unable to reveal where Johnson stands in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
FF Today's Take: Andre Johnson owners probably won't know if the wide receiver will be cleared until Sunday so have backup plans in place. Regardless of whether Johnson is available, DeAndre Hopkins should be used more in the passing game.

Veterans Texans WR could miss Week 15
|The longest-tenured Texan may not be available for his team’s biggest game of the season.
Veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson suffered a concussion during the Texans’ 27-13 victory at Jacksonville on Sunday. After receiving a helmet-to-helmet blow, Johnson left the field and did not return to action.
Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Monday that Johnson will be evaluated as the team prepares for a critical AFC South matchup at Indianapolis.
“He has to pass the concussion test to be able to be cleared,” O’Brien said at NRG Stadium. “I would say that’s definitely a day-to-day thing.”
FF Today's Take: We're not bullish on Johnson's fantasy prospects heading into Week 15. Even if he plays, the Texans are likely to focus on running the ball and targeting the more explosive DeAndre Hopkins in the passing game.
|Arian Foster expected to play versus Browns -- Tue Nov 11 9:40 am --|
Groin seems okay, but Alfred Blue still a smart add
|The Texans should be in good shape physically when they play at Cleveland on Sunday.
Cornerback Johnathan Joseph passed the concussion protocol and will start against the Browns.
“He was out there today, and he looked good,” coach Bill O’Brien said after practice.
The only player the Texans know they’ll be missing is cornerback Kareem Jackson, who suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee against Philadelphia and could miss three games.
“The players I mentioned last week are still day-to-day,” O’Brien said.
That means running back Arian Foster, inside linebacker Brian Cushing and outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney.
Foster and Cushing are expected to play. No one has any idea about Clowney, who continues to experience soreness in his knee. (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: The Texans are dealing with some important defensive injuries and have benched Ryan Fitzpatrick in favor of the strong-armed Ryan Mallett, who makes his first NFL start. It's hard to say how much the Texans will use Foster in Week 11, so Alfred Blue makes an interesting flex option, and both Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins remain must-play WRs in 12-team leagues.
|Texans make switch at QB, Mallett to start Week 11 -- Wed Nov 5 11:45 am --|
Ryan Fitzpatrick benched
|Ryan Mallett is the Texans’ new starting quarterback.
Coach Bill O’Brien named Mallett the starter Wednesday, after debating during recent days whether to make a change. The first-year coach acknowledged the decision to bench veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick was "very difficult." (Houston Chronicle)|
FF Today's Take: Fitzpatrick will be the backup in Week 11 with Tom Savage operating as the No. 3 quarterback. Fitzpatrick has completed 62 percent of his passes for 1960 yards, 11 TDs and 8 INTs in nine games. The Texans are 4-5 and looking for a spark. For now, consider Mallett a QB2 until he shows consistency with Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.
