Ravens TE Dennis Pitta will undergo surgery to repair the damage to his dislocated right hip, which likely is also fractured, according to team sources.
Pitta dislocated his right hip for the second time in the past year, getting hurt without being touched during the second quarter of Sunday's 23-21 win over the Cleveland Browns.
This is a major setback for Pitta, one that probably ends his season and casts doubt on his career outlook.(Baltimore Sun)
FF Today's Take:Pitta fractured and dislocated his hip during training camp last year and missed all but the final four games of the 2013 regular season. With Pitta sustaining this injury, the Ravens will turn toward TE Owen Daniels and rookie Crockett Gillmore. They could also utilize FB Kyle Juszczyk, who caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown against the Browns, in a tight end role.
