Bengals once again preparing to start McCarron-- Mon Jan 4 4:50 pm --
No update yet on Andy Dalton's right thumb
The Cincinnati Bengals are preparing as if quarterback AJ McCarron will start Saturday night's AFC wild-card game against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers, coach Marvin Lewis said in a news conference Monday, confirming what a source earlier told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
McCarron has started Cincinnati's past three games in place of Andy Dalton, who is sidelined with a broken thumb on his throwing hand.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:It would be a tough ask for Dalton to get his cast removed early this week - if that even happens - and expect him to be razor-sharp after missing the last three games. McCarron's presence should be considered a slight downgrade for the Bengals' supporting cast. A.J. Green has performed well against the Steelers regardless of his quarterback this year, posting an 11-118-1 line with Dalton against them in Week 8 and a 6-132-1 line against them in Week 14.
Eifert listed as "full-go" Thursday-- Thu Dec 31 7:00 pm --
Concussion has sidelined TE for the last two games
Bengals starting S George Iloka (groin) and TE Tyler Eifert (concussion) reported to their first full-scale workout since getting hurt in the Dec. 13 Steelers game. QB AJ McCarron (left wrist) also reported in helmet. McCarron and Eifert were listed full go and Iloka was limited.(Bengals.com)
FF Today's Take:All three players will be critical to the Bengals' playoff hopes. Eifert is easily the most important player from a fantasy perspective, so it will be nice for Cincinnati to get him re-acclimated in Week 17 versus the Baltimore Ravens. The third-year tight end figures to be on a snap count, however, making him a dicey start in DFS.
Fractured right thumb for Dalton, out Week 15-- Sun Dec 13 4:10 pm --
Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton suffered a fractured thumb in his throwing hand during Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and is uncertain how long he will be out. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Dalton will miss next week's game against San Francisco but acknowledged he did not know whether the quarterback will miss any additional time.(ESPN)
FF Today's Take:Dalton will see specialist on Monday after injuring his thumb in the first quarter. It's possible Dalton will miss more than just next week. AJ McCarron threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns in relief and will get the start next week against the 49ers.
