2015 Outlook
Well, it is safe to say that Reggie suffered from the loss of Peyton Manning but itís also fair to say that he didnít fall off the fantasy map like many prognosticators seem to believe. Hey, 75 receptions for 960 yards and four touchdowns isnít horrible when you are playing for a 2-14 squad with major issues at quarterback. Nonetheless, at 33 years of age (he will turn 34 during the season), it is also fair to wonder just how much Wayne has left. However, with no threat to unseat him as the Colts leading receiver, he will get plenty of looks in 2012 and that should bode well for his fantasy prospects. Sure, a return to the 111 reception, 1,355 yard and six touchdown production he put up in 2010 isnít going to happen but he should be a rock solid WR3 provided the injury bug doesnít strike. And with just three missed games (all as a rookie in 2001) during his eleven-year career, the odds of that happening are slim. In fact, with his fantasy rep at an all-time low, Wayne could be a bargain on draft day.
News From The Past 90 Days
Injury WR Brandon LaFell lands on PUP list     -- Sat Sep 5 4:00 pm --

Eligible to play Week 8
Source: the Patriots have placed WR Brandon LaFell on the PUP list. He'll be eligible to play in Week 7 of the regular season. (Field Yates on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: Since the Patriots have a bye in Week 4, the earliest LaFell will see action is Week 8 against the Dolphins. With LaFell's injury and the reports of Reggie Wayne asking for his release, New England is sure to be on the hunt for wideouts in the next 24 hours.
WR Wayne feeling "like a rookie" in New England     -- Fri Aug 28 5:30 pm --

Veteran trying to digest Pats' playbook after 14 years in Indy
Reggie Wayne has spent nearly a decade and a half in pro football, but starting over with the New England Patriots has him feeling differently. "Like a rookie," Wayne said, per the Boston Herald. "They're throwing a lot at me right now. I'm not getting very much sleep. I feel like a rookie all over again." Wayne has his nose deep in the team's offensive playbook, a demanding Erhardt-Perkins scheme that asks plenty of its receivers. New England's attack demands that wideouts make split decisions based on the defensive alignment, something fellow veteran Chad Johnson struggled to figure out. Wayne, by contrast, is one of the more versatile and engaged performers around. (

FF Today's Take: Coming off his two worst fantasy seasons in over a decade, Wayne, 34, is far from a sexy pick. However, he could have an integral role early on with both Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell currently sidelined with injuries. If you draft LaFell, who appears to be a lock to miss some regular season action, it would be wise to grab Wayne as well.
Pats agree on one-year deal with Reggie Wayne     -- Mon Aug 24 1:10 pm --

Injuries piling up for Pats receiving corps
Reggie Wayne and the New England Patriots have reached agreement on a one-year deal, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Wayne fits a need on the Patriots as the team has several question marks among its receiving corps due to injuries. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: Julian Edelman (leg) Brandon LaFell (PUP list) and Aaron Dobson (hamstring) have been battling injuries during the preseason. The Pats are very secretive with their injury info making it difficult to gauge if this signing is anything more than insurance for one of the three above. For now, Wayne is nothing more than a late-round flier in redraft leagues.
