2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
In 2010, Smith looked undersized, old and on the decline during a disappointing season in which he finished the year with 46 receptions for 554 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 14 games, his least productive season since his injury shortened campaign in 2004. Turns out, the issue wasnít Smith Ė it was the play of the teamís quarterbacks. With Cam Newton under certain, Smith enjoyed a renaissance year in 2011, catching 79 passes for 1,394 yards and seven touchdowns. While the numbers were impressive, Smithís production tailed off as the season wound down. With defenses focused on slowing down the Panthers big play passing attack, Smith caught just 33 passes for 476 yards and three touchdowns over the teamís final eight games. In 2012, the question is what Smith are we buying? The one that was a revelation over the first half of the season with 46 receptions for 918 yards and four touchdowns? Or the second half version? One guy shapes up as a WR1 while the second shapes up as a WR3. Letís split the difference and call Smith a WR2 in 2012.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Steve Smith misses practice Thursday     -- Thu Nov 3 11:30 am --

Ankle injury
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. didn't practice Thursday, which puts his availability in doubt for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. Smith hasn't been on the field since injuring his ankle on Oct. 9. He would likely need more than one day of practice to get ready to play a game again. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: Smith hasn't played since Week 5 and it appears he will miss this week's game against the Steelers leaving WR duties to Mike Wallace, Kamar Aiken and Breshad Perriman. TE Dennis Pitta gets a slight bump in value with Smith out.
Injury Steve Smith listed as Doubtful     -- Fri Oct 14 1:10 pm --

Steve Smith is listed as Doubtful on the injury report. (Baltimore Ravens on Twitter)

FF Today's Take: Smith is going to be inactive on Sunday which should increase the opportunities for Kamar Aiken and tight end Dennis Pitta. Mike Wallace is also in play as a Flex option.
Injury No practice for Steve Smith, Wallace limited     -- Thu Oct 13 12:15 pm --

Ravens banged up at receiver
Wide receiver Steve Smith ankle is not present after sitting out Wednesday's session. Two more players who were limited: wide receiver Mike Wallace ribs and cornerback Shareece Wright back spasms are active and practicing. (Baltimore Sun)

FF Today's Take: Smith missed practice Wednesday and is a candidate for the inactive list. Wallace has a better chance of playing but we should know more on his status later in the week. Expect Kamar Aiken to see an increased workload against the Giants.
