On track to return from collar bone injury in Week 8
Josh McCown is on track to return from a collarbone injury that kept him out the past five weeks.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
McCown told reporters he was "moving in the right direction" to be able to play Sunday versus the New York Jets. Browns coach Hue Jackson didn't announce a starter Wednesday.
FF Today's Take:Cleveland finally gets positive injury news on the quarterback front with Josh McCown's status improving by the day. Barring a set back he is set to return as the team's starter to face a Jets defense that has had issues defending the pass (NYJ rank 6th in passing yards allowed per game). Kevin Hogan will serve as the backup while Cody Kessler remains in concussion protocol.
RGII out at least 8 weeks, shoulder injury-- Mon Sep 12 3:00 pm --
No surgery required at this time
Robert Griffin III is out at least 8 games with a broken bone in his left shoulder suffered during Sunday's 29-10 loss to the Eagles, the Browns announced Monday. No surgery is required at this time, but he suffered a fractured coracoid bone. It will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks.(Cleveland Plain-Dealer)
FF Today's Take:Josh McCown will start Week 2 against Baltimore. Griffin went 12-26 for 190 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT against the Eagles in Week 1. As expected the Browns struggled on offense as they attempt re-tool the franchise. Much like Griffin, McCown is nothing more than a QB2 moving forward.
Browns announce RG3 as starting QB-- Mon Aug 8 9:30 am --
Browns make it official
Robert Griffin III has been named the Browns starting quarterback, Hue Jackson announced Monday.
Griffin III, who signed with the Browns in March after four seasons with the Washington Redskins, emerged from a four-man competition that included veteran Josh McCown, Austin Davis and rookie Cody Kessler. He’ll receive his first start Friday in Cleveland’s preseason opener at Green Bay.(ClevelandBrowns.com)
FF Today's Take:Head coach Hue Jackson made it official. Griffin has been running with the first team since Spring. Josh McCown will serve as the backup although trade talks involving his name has surfaced over the last week with Dallas needing a backup. Griffin's fantasy value sits firmly in QB2 territory.
