FF Today's Take:The Browns have yet to name a starting QB for their game against the Bengals, however barring a setback it appears that RGIII will get the nod over Josh McCown and Cody Kessler. Griffin was cleared for contact last week during the team's bye.
Josh McCown to start for Browns-- Mon Nov 21 2:00 pm --
Kessler in concussion protocol
Josh McCown will have a chance to prevent the Browns from going 0-16 when he starts Sunday against the red-hot New York Giants at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Hue Jackson named McCown the starter on Monday with rookie Cody Kessler in the concussion protocol with his second concussion in 29 days. It will mark McCown's third start of the season.(Cleveland Plain-Dealer)
FF Today's Take:McCown may start but he's no guaranteed to take every snap at quarterback making him a QB2 at best against the Giants. Robert Griffin III will start practicing this week, but hasn't yet been cleared for full contact. The Browns have yet to win a game this season.
On track to return from collar bone injury in Week 8
Josh McCown is on track to return from a collarbone injury that kept him out the past five weeks.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
McCown told reporters he was "moving in the right direction" to be able to play Sunday versus the New York Jets. Browns coach Hue Jackson didn't announce a starter Wednesday.
FF Today's Take:Cleveland finally gets positive injury news on the quarterback front with Josh McCown's status improving by the day. Barring a set back he is set to return as the team's starter to face a Jets defense that has had issues defending the pass (NYJ rank 6th in passing yards allowed per game). Kevin Hogan will serve as the backup while Cody Kessler remains in concussion protocol.
RGII out at least 8 weeks, shoulder injury-- Mon Sep 12 3:00 pm --
No surgery required at this time
Robert Griffin III is out at least 8 games with a broken bone in his left shoulder suffered during Sunday's 29-10 loss to the Eagles, the Browns announced Monday. No surgery is required at this time, but he suffered a fractured coracoid bone. It will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks.(Cleveland Plain-Dealer)
FF Today's Take:Josh McCown will start Week 2 against Baltimore. Griffin went 12-26 for 190 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT against the Eagles in Week 1. As expected the Browns struggled on offense as they attempt re-tool the franchise. Much like Griffin, McCown is nothing more than a QB2 moving forward.
