RGII out at least 8 weeks, shoulder injury-- Mon Sep 12 3:00 pm --
No surgery required at this time
Robert Griffin III is out at least 8 games with a broken bone in his left shoulder suffered during Sunday's 29-10 loss to the Eagles, the Browns announced Monday. No surgery is required at this time, but he suffered a fractured coracoid bone. It will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks.(Cleveland Plain-Dealer)
FF Today's Take:Josh McCown will start Week 2 against Baltimore. Griffin went 12-26 for 190 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT against the Eagles in Week 1. As expected the Browns struggled on offense as they attempt re-tool the franchise. Much like Griffin, McCown is nothing more than a QB2 moving forward.
Browns announce RG3 as starting QB-- Mon Aug 8 9:30 am --
Browns make it official
Robert Griffin III has been named the Browns starting quarterback, Hue Jackson announced Monday.
Griffin III, who signed with the Browns in March after four seasons with the Washington Redskins, emerged from a four-man competition that included veteran Josh McCown, Austin Davis and rookie Cody Kessler. FF Today's Take:Head coach Hue Jackson made it official. Griffin has been running with the first team since Spring. Josh McCown will serve as the backup although trade talks involving his name has surfaced over the last week with Dallas needing a backup. Griffin's fantasy value sits firmly in QB2 territory.
