2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Romo put together a strong 2011 season after missing ten games in 2010 due to a broken collarbone. He topped 4,000 passing yards for the third time with 4,184 yards and threw for 31 touchdowns, the second highest total of his career. The truth is that Romo may have had the best year of his career last season as he continued to play well despite missing Miles Austin for six weeks, Jason Witten struggling somewhat down the stretch and Dez Bryant failing to register a breakout season in his second year in the league. Part of Romoís success was based on the chemistry he had with Laurent Robinson, the teamís third wide receiver who signed with Jacksonville in the offseason. Itís anybodyís guess who will attempt to replace that production in 2012 but the odds are that none of the candidates will come closing to matching Robinsonís 858 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. While Romoís statistics from last season would have been good enough to make him a top five fantasy quarterback a few years ago, he finished as the 8th ranked player at his position. There is little reason to suggest that he will improve on that ranking in 2012. Consider him a low end QB1.

Injury Tony Romo out for the season     -- Fri Nov 27 4:00 pm --

After re-fracturing collarbone
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday that quarterback Tony Romoís season is done after he fractured his left collarbone for the second time this season. During a radio interview on KRLD-FM radio in Dallas, Jones said that Romo suffered a hairline fracture that will not require surgery. The injury, suffered late in the third quarter of Thursdayís 33-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers, will sideline the 35-year-old Romo for the remaining five games of the regular season. Romo, who played in just two complete games this season, threw five touchdowns and seven interceptions in four games. After returning from the original broken collarbone ó which occurred at Philadelphia in Week 2 ó Romo threw a combined five interceptions against the Miami Dolphins and Panthers. (USA Today)

FF Today's Take: With Matt Cassel likely under center for the rest of the season, it's hard to get too excited about the fantasy outlook for players like Terrance Williams and Jason Witten. Darren McFadden and Dez Bryant are currently the only Cowboys' players worth owning for fantasy purposes.
Injury Romo on track to return in Week 11     -- Mon Nov 16 5:15 pm --

Out since Week 2 with fractured collarbone
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's fractured collarbone appears to have healed based on recent test results, a league source told ESPN's Ed Werder. After missing two months of action, Romo should be cleared from injured reserve/designated to return Wednesday and play as expected Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, the source said. "Tony's had a good couple of weeks of practice with us," coach Jason Garrett said. "We anticipate him being able to practice this week." (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: The Cowboys won each of their first two games with Romo under center but have gone 0-7 during his absence with Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel - the franchise's longest losing streak since 1989. His return is a major boost for all Dallas skill-position players, particularly Dez Bryant. Expect Darren McFadden to benefit as well since defenses will need to respect the passing game again. This week's opponent, the Miami Dolphins, present a plus-matchup for Romo.
Romo placed on short-term IR, out until Wk 11     -- Tue Sep 22 12:30 pm --

No surgery required for broken collarbone
The next game Tony Romo is eligible to start is on Nov. 22 against the Miami Dolphins. The Dallas Cowboys placed their starting quarterback on the injured reserve/designated to return list on Tuesday, which will keep him out for the next eight weeks as he recovers from a broken left collarbone. Romo will not have surgery to repair the collarbone. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: The Cowboys offense has suffered to major blows in the first two weeks of the season. Both Dez Bryant (foot) and Tony Romo (shoulder) will miss a significant portion of the season. Brandon Weeden will be the Cowboys starting QB until Romo can return. Without Bryant, Weeden's fantasy value is in the QB2 tier.
Injury Romo has fractured clavicle; out about eight weeks     -- Mon Sep 21 4:55 pm --

Brandon Weeden to start in the interim
Tony Romo wonít have surgery on his fractured left clavicle and will miss about eight weeks. Romo broke the same bone in the sixth game of 2010, and he appeared to know immediately heíd done it again in the third quarter in Philadelphia Sunday. The early estimate on his absence in 2010 was 6-8 weeks, but he missed the rest of the season. The eight-week timetable gives Romo a chance to return for the teamís final six or seven games. The Cowboys play at the Dolphins on Nov. 22 and host the Panthers four days later on Thanksgiving, so those are the games circled for now as potential comeback dates. (Pro Football Talk)

FF Today's Take: DeMarco Murray is gone, Dez Bryant is out indefinitely and now Romo is expected to miss half the season. For what it is worth, Jason Witten played through multiple ankle and knee sprains in Week 2 as well. Although the Cowboys have a great offensive line and improving defense, overcoming all of these personnel losses will probably be too much too ask. Brandon Weeden will be a low-end QB2 in Romo's absence; owners should expect even more focus on the running game going forward.
