2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
On the surface, Gore put together a solid season in 2011, finishing the year with the second most rushing yards of his career (1,211) and finding the end zone eight times. However, it was a roller coaster ride as Gore struggled in his first three games with 148 rushing yards and one touchdown before putting together a great five game stretch when he topped 100 rushing yards in every game and totaled 634 yards and four touchdowns. After that, his usage and production declined over the 49ers final eight games as he averaged just 15.8 touches and accumulated 429 rushing yards and three touchdowns. First year head coach Jim Harbaugh clearly seemed to be curtailing Goreís workload in order to keep him fresh for the playoffs and with the addition of Brandon Jacobs in free agency and LaMichael James in the draft, that approach is likely to continue in 2012. That will mean fewer carries for Gore and since he was rarely used as a pass catcher last season (just 17 receptions after averaging 51 receptions over the previous five seasons), his days as a RB1 for fantasy purposes appear to be over. Look for Gore to struggle to reach 1,000 rushing yards in 2012 and finish the year as a low end RB2, provided he wins the short yardage role over Brandon Jacobs. If he loses that role, Gore will likely finish the year as a fantasy backup.

Gore eyeing ninth 1,000-yard rushing season     -- Thu Dec 31 7:10 pm --

Needs 109 in season finale to do so
You donít need to remind Frank Gore how many yards he needs Sunday against the Titans to reach 1,000 yards or how many 1,000-yard seasons that would be in his great career. He knows. He recited it to reporters off the top of his head Wednesday. 109 yards away from his ninth 1,000-yard season, which would make him just the fifth running back in NFL history to accomplish that feat. Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, and Curtis Martin each had ten 1,000-yard seasons, and Emmitt Smith had 11. (Colts.com)

FF Today's Take: The Colts have not been able to push a runner over the century mark since Vick Ballard rushed for 105 yards at Houston in Week 15 of the 2012 season - a 49-game drought. Indianapolis also hasn't had a 1,000-yard rusher since Joseph Addai in 2007. The Colts face the offensive-inept Titans, meaning Gore has an outside shot at getting the 25-30 carries he will likely need to hit both marks.
Injury Ahmad Bradshaw lands on IR, wrist injury     -- Mon Nov 30 10:38 am --

Zurlon Tipton signed

FF Today's Take: Bradshaw injured his wrist in yesterday's game against the Bucs and will be replaced on the roster by Zurlon Tipton. Dan Herron is also on the roster and will likely be the immediate backup to Frank Gore.
