2014 Outlook
Letís run down the Holmes situation from 2011. Quitter? Check. Drama queen? Check. Fighting with the quarterback? Check. Called a team cancer? Check. Called out by teammates (more than once)? Check. Letís face it folks, had the Jets not had to pay Holmes nearly $8-million in guaranteed salary for the upcoming season, he would have been released. Now letís check in on the 2012 situation. Argued with his position coach, chucked his helmet and pulled himself out of an OTA because he thought he was being overworked? Check. Proceeded to sit out drills claiming injury? Check. If I havenít convinced you that Holmes is a major risk, how about we check in on his 2011 production: 51 receptions on 101 targets for a career-low 654 yards with eight touchdowns. Sure, there isnít a proven wide receiver on the depth chart to start opposite him but Holmesí attitude and the presence of scatter shot quarterbacks in Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow are major concerns. Holmes is a low-end WR2 in 2012 provided he keeps his attitude in check.

Comment: Holmes is the lone star in the Jets receiving corps but he comes with baggage thanks to his diva attitude and a rib injury, making him a risky WR3 for your fantasy team.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Marshall, Jeffery 75% not to play     -- Sun Sep 14 9:38 am --

Both Bears' wide receivers are gametime decisions
There are major questions about whether Chicago Bears starting wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery will play Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers. Both players were listed as questionable to play and one source said he was "75 percent" sure neither would play. In addition, receiver Josh Morgan is listed as doubtful on the injury report with a groin injury. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: Both have been labeled as gametime decisions for Sunday night's contest against San Francisco. Marshall didn't practice all week while Jeffery worked on a limited basis Friday. If both sit, its likely Santonio Holmes would fill one starting role and perhaps Josh Bellamy the other. Holmes would be a worthwhile WR3 if you're able to adjust your roster at gametime.
Injury Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery iffy for Sunday     -- Fri Sep 12 3:10 pm --

Marshall sits Friday, Jeffery limited
Receivers Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) are listed as questionable for Sunday. The Bears held out Marshall from Friday's practice, but he came out and participated during the walk-through portion. Jeffery practiced in a limited capacity and took part in some of the full team drills. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: It sounds like both Bears' receivers will be true gametime decisions. Not want fantasy owners want to hear considering the Bears and 49ers don't play until Sunday night. If either sit, Santonio Holmes would be in line for more targets.
Injury Bears WRs Marshall, Jeffery miss practice     -- Wed Sep 10 3:49 pm --

O-line practices without Garza and Slauson
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears first-team center Roberto Garza (high-ankle sprain), left guard Matt Slauson (high-ankle sprain) and wide receivers Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) were held out of Wednesdayís practice in advance of Week 2ís critical road game against the San Francisco 49ers. (ESPNChicago.com)

FF Today's Take: Brandon Marshall (ankle) has been receiving treatment and is expected to be ready to go for Week 2 but the same cannot be said for Alshon Jeffery and his hamstring. If the pair of wideouts is unable to practice by tomorrow, fantasy owners will need to start making backup plans. Santonio Holmes would benefit the most if either of Chicago's receivers sit out against the 49ers.
