2012 Outlook
Depth Chart
After being a bust for the first two years of his career with Denver and the Giants, Hixon played well at the end of the 2009 season, catching 28 passes for 351 yards and a touchdown when given the first extensive playing time of his career. That made him a bit of a breakout candidate for the 2010 season but he blew that opportunity and has caught just 19 passes for 237 yards and a pair of touchdowns over the past two seasons. In 2012, he will compete with rookie 2nd round pick Rueben Randle, Ramses Barden and Jerrell Jernigan for a backup spot on the Giants. His return ability may give him a leg up in that competition but the team has younger players as options in the return game and it doesn’t help that Hixon has suffered torn ACL’s in both of his knees over the last two seasons. Hixon is a low upside receiver who may not even be on the Giants roster on opening day.

Panthers' RB & WR dealing with injuries
Recently acquired wideout Domenik Hixon will miss all of this week's three-day minicamp after injuring his hamstring last week during OTAs, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Tuesday. Meanwhile, running back Jonathan Stewart continues to recover from offseason surgeries on both ankles. (Charlotte Observer)

FF Today's Take: Hixon has been a serviceable wide receiver when healthy but has battled ACL injuries in 2010 and 2011 and missed time last season with an ankle injury. Stewart is said to be on track with his rehab but it's likely he won't participate in any drills until training camp.

One-year deal
The Panthers have their No. 3 wide receiver. According to a league source, Carolina agreed to a one-year deal with WR Domenik Hixon on Wednesday. Hixon caught 39 balls for 567 yards and two touchdowns last year for the New York Giants. (Charlotte Observer)

FF Today's Take: Hixon will be penciled in as the No. 3 receiver behind Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell. Hixon has been plagued by ACL and ankle injuries during his five years with Giants but has been productive when healthy. The Browns and Raiders reportedly had interest in Hixon also.
