| Kendall Wright questionable for Week 14 -- Thu Dec 4 6:55 pm --|
Suffered cracked bone in hand; day-to-day
|Already without Justin Hunter, out for the year with a lacerated spleen, the Titans are now dealing with an injury to Kendall Wright. The team’s top wide receiver suffered a hand injury when he slipped at practice Wednesday and did not practice Thursday.
“He finished practice [Wednesday] and today he came in and it was sore and we just gave him the day off because I didn’t want him trying to catch a ball and aggravating it,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “It’s going to depend on how much better it gets tomorrow.” (ESPN)|
FF Today's Take: Wright is coming off his best game of the year and could still be a solid WR3 play - especially in PPR leagues - He should be a target hog following the loss of Hunter, but this is shaping up to be a game-time decision. If Wright sits, downgrade Zach Mettenberger and upgrade Nate Washington and Delanie Walker, each of whom will likely get flooded with targets.
| TE Delanie Walker still in concussion protocol -- Wed Nov 19 6:18 pm --|
Light participant in practice Wednesday
|NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Titans tight end Delanie Walker still needs to pass a doctor's test to make it out of the NFL concussion protocol, but he was part of a light practice Wednesday. The Titans decided [last] Sunday not to have Walker undergo the final test with an independent doctor required to clear him before their Monday night game against the Steelers. (ESPN.com)|
FF Today's Take: Walker is the Titans' leading receiver and is on track to take the final test of the NFL's concussion protocol. If he is cleared, Walker becomes a decent play for fantasy owners against the Eagles for Week 12. If Walker remains sidelined, backup Chase Coffman would find himself with an expanded role for the second straight week.
| Titans TE Delanie Walker suffers concussion -- Mon Nov 10 9:30 am --|
Titans play Monday night in Week 11
|The Titans suffered a significant blow when Delanie Walker suffered a concussion in the second quarter. It forced them to finish the game with tight ends Chase Coffman and Richard Gordon, who weren't on the roster at the beginning of the season. (The Tennessean)|
FF Today's Take: Walker leads the Titans in receiving with 512 yards and 4 TDs so it will be a significant loss if he's unable to get through the NFL's concussion protocol before Monday. The Titans play the Steelers on Monday night football in Week 11.
|Mettenberger to start, end of Locker in TEN? -- Thu Oct 23 7:00 am --|
Titans will go with rookie QB in Week 8
|The Titans plan to start rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger against the Texans on Sunday, according to sources familiar with the situation. The move could also signal the beginning of the end for quarterback Jake Locker in Tennessee. The fourth-year pro has missed the last two games with a thumb injury and has struggled with injuries throughout his career. (The Tennessean)|
FF Today's Take: With Tennessee sitting at 2-5 the team has decided to give their rookie quarterback some playing time. It will be difficult to trust and Titans' receiver against the Texans defense this week. Delanie Walker will be a low-end TE1 consideration.
| Jake Locker expects to play versus Browns -- Wed Oct 1 6:30 pm --|
Practices with wrist injury
|NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Jake Locker practiced Wednesday for the Tennessee Titans, and now the quarterback will see how his right wrist responds to a full session of throwing the ball. Locker isn't overly concerned, he expects to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Ken Whisenhunt still wants to see how Locker feels Thursday after a full practice.
FF Today's Take: The Titans could only muster up 261 total yards against the Colts last Sunday with Charlie Whitehurst under center so fantasy owners should be hoping for Locker's return. Nonetheless, the entire passing game outside of TE Delanie Walker is a risky play against the Browns for week five.
| Delanie Walker misses practice -- Wed Sep 24 4:37 pm --|
Titans mulling options with two TEs hurt
|Delanie Walker (shoulder) and fellow tight end Taylor Thompson (knee) missed practice Wednesday. The potential loss of one or both of those tight ends prompted the Titans to re-sign tight end Chase Coffman on Monday. He was with the team in training camp and caught six preseason passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Coffman understands that with both Walker and Thompson hurting, there is the chance he could see a decent amount of playing time right away. (The Tennessean)|
FF Today's Take: Delanie Walker is going to be re-evaluated as the week progresses but the team's decision to add Chase Coffman to the active roster is cause for concern. Considering the amount of injuries at tight end last week, Walker's owners would be wise to look into a backup option sooner than later.
