2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
In one of the more shocking off-season deals in recent memory, perennial first-round fantasy running back LeSean McCoy was traded by Chip Kelly and the Eagles to the Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso. The former Eagle joins a backfield in Buffalo that contains veteran stalwart Fred Jackson, Anthony Dixon, Bryce Brown, and fifth-round pick Karlos Williams from Florida State.

McCoy will be the primary tailback with Fred Jackson also receiving a decent amount of carries. As a run-first team that will attempt to shorten the game and control the clock with a menacing ground attack, there should be more than enough carries for McCoy and Jackson. At age 26, McCoy is still relatively young despite having 1461 carries on his legs. He enters 2015 as a disgruntled player looking to prove his old team wrong by bouncing back from the lowest touchdown total of his career (16 games, only 5 rushing TDs).

In addition, the absence of C.J. Spiller via free agency to the Saints opens the door for McCoy to regain the lost production in third-down receptions that he experienced last season in Philadelphia. Whoever ends up winning the starting role at quarterback for the Bills will lean on McCoy in the passing game as a dump off receiver and third-down threat. Fantasy owners that were burned by McCoy’s drastic drop in production in 2014 will likely steer clear, opening the door for owners drafting in the later spots in the first round to get excellent value. Although the predicted poor quarterback play may allow teams to load up the box against the run game, sheer volume will allow McCoy to produce top ten fantasy production this season.

Injury Rex: Bills "cautiously optimistic" about McCoy
Hamstring injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 27, 4:40 pm

Buffalo Bills
HC Rex Ryan has the media answer whether LeSean McCoy will be ready for the opener. All together now: "Cautiously optimistic!" (Buffalo Bills on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: In typical Rex fashion, he was able to sidestep an injury question with humor. The fact that Ryan didn't come a little closer to guaranteeing his availability for the opener should be cause for concern for his owners, however, and could rightfully result in a drop of his ADP as a result. McCoy has seemingly been hurt since the day he arrived in Buffalo, so drafters would be wise not to view him as a fantasy RB1. Fred Jackson and rookie Karlos Williams appear to be next in line.

Injury McCoy leaves practice with hamstring injury
MRI on Wednesday

Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy limped to the locker room with an apparent left leg injury during Tuesday's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The Bills are decimated at the running back position with injuries. McCoy (hamstring) joins Fred Jackson (hamstring), Anthony Dixon (calf), Bryce Brown (hamstring) and rookie Karlos Williams (undisclosed) in the trainers room. None are expected to play on Thursday.

Bills' FB thinks McCoy can reach 2000-yard mark
Uncertainty surrounds former Eagle as he joins new team
By: John Canario | Fri Jul 31, 4:00 pm

Buffalo Bills
"I want him to break records," Bills fullback Jerome Felton said. "I want him to get 2,000 yards. I want him to lead the league in rushing. Him and Adrian are cut from the same cloth. I would be very disappointed if he's not the leading rusher in the league next year, that's for sure." Reaching the 2,000 yard mark is incredibly difficult, but it's not out of the question for McCoy. He piled up 1,607 yards in 2013 on 314 carries. He has averaged a healthy 4.6 yards over the course of his career, and has remained relatively healthy each year - both key factors in rushing for a big number of yards. Having a confident fullback as your lead blocker helps, especially when he's blocked for another 2,000-yard rusher in Adrian Peterson. (Fox)

FFToday's Take: Caution: it can be hard to predict how a star running back will fit in with a new team. LeSean McCoy is an elusive runner who can pound the ball between the tackles or bounce outside and turn on the jets. Historically, he has done a lot of damage receiving the ball as well. He will likely be the focal point of the team's offense this season, and if he stays healthy, should help the Bills improve upon the 92.6 rushing yards they averaged per game last year.
