2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
The Vikings 2016 season was an absolute calamity. Still reeling after kicking away a sure post-season win, the Vikings lost their franchise quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater to a devastating knee injury late in training camp. The team was forced to make a trade for Bradford just prior to the season. And while the team got off to a white hot 4-0 start, future HOFer Adrian Peterson was lost for the year with a knee injury in Week 2, while injuries piled up on the offensive line, contributing to the team losing 8 of their final 11 games to finish at 7-9.

Considering the fact he joined the team a few scant weeks before making his debut, Bradford had a fine statistical season. He played in 15 games, racking up a 20-8 touchdown to interception ratio, and career highs in yardage (3,877) and completion percentage (71.6). He helped to make Adam Thielen and Kyle Rudolph fantasy assets, and at the very worst kept the franchise afloat while injuries ravaged the roster around him. Despite the decent numbers, Bradford and the Vikes had serious trouble putting up points consistently, scoring 20 or fewer in half of their games. During a mid-season four game losing streak their offensive coordinator bailed, the run game remained in the witness protection program, and their defense showed cracks.

With the dark cloud of the 2016 season moving on, things do look brighter for Bradford and the offense. They've added three new starters on the offensive line, added explosive talent in the backfield, and should get more production (it's nearly impossible to get less!) from former 1st round receiver Laquon Treadwell. Bradford with have a full offseason to get more comfortable with the system as well. This will probably be the most talented team Bradford has led, but the fact remains he's never surpassed 21 touchdown passes in a season, and this Vikings still have a "run the ball and play defense" mentality. If the line can gel, and Bradford can improving the timing with his receivers, I do think he can hit 25 touchdowns and 4,000 yards which would put him squarely in the QB15-20 territory as a mid-range QB2.

Injury Sam Bradford lands on IR
Teddy Bridgewater activated
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Nov 8, 11:38 am

Minnesota Vikings
We haven't seen Sam Bradford since early October -- and we won't see him again this season. The Vikings quarterback had his troublesome knee scoped by Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday to clean it out, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed of the situation. With the return of Teddy Bridgewater from the physically unable to perform list, Bradford was placed on injured reserve. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Minnesota has been winning with Case Keenum keeping the offense rolling for fantasy owners. Keenum figures to maintain his starting role this week on the road against a Redskins defense that has given up 24.2 points per game in 2017 (ninth worst in the NFL). Teddy Bridgewater may force his way back into the lineup in the near future if he can prove he is fully recovered from his knee injury. He is worth monitoring and could provide a fantasy boost down the stretch.

Injury Stefon Diggs ruled out
Case Keenum will start
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 20, 2:10 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer confirmed in his Friday afternoon press conference that Case Keenum will start at quarterback on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs (groin), quarterback Sam Bradford (knee), guard Nick Easton (calf) have all been ruled out on Sunday after not participating in practice this week. (Vikings.com)

FFToday's Take: Diggs missed Week 6 with a groin injury and will miss Week 7 as well. In his place Adam Thielen will be the main target for Keenum against the Ravens on Sunday. Kyle Rudolph is also a good option for TE streamers.

Injury Teddy Bridgewater cleared to return
Recovery from knee injury; will not come off PUP list right away
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 16, 6:55 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Teddy Bridgewater will soon hit the practice field. More than a year after his gruesome knee injury, which led many around the NFL wondering whether the former first-round pick would ever play a down of football again, Bridgewater was cleared by Dr. Dan Cooper to begin practicing, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday. Rapoport added Bridgewater is expected to be activated by the Vikings this week or next. "No, he won't come off the PUP list," Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said Monday. "He's going to practice, but he has 21 days and he'll stay on the PUP list until he's ready to play." (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: It's a rare feel-good story for a player who was considered the Vikings' future at quarterback only about 15 months ago. Now, with Sam Bradford dealing with his own knee issues, it is possible Bridgewater will get a chance to prove himself again. In the meantime, Minnesota is getting serviceable production from Case Keenum, so there is no rush to hurry back Bridgewater. However, if he can show the team he is right over the next three weeks, he could overtake Keenum at that point.

Injury No Bradford, no Diggs on Friday
Case Keenum expected to start
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 13, 1:05 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Andrew Sendejo returned to practice today for #Vikings. No Sam Bradford, Stefon Diggs or Easton again. (Andrew Krammer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Expect Case Keenum to get the start against the Packers in Week 6. Diggs noted earlier in the week that he expects to play but missing practice all week suggests he's a candidate for the inactive list. If he is active, he'll be a risky play for fantasy owners. Adam Thielen should be the most targeted receiver for the Vikings this week.

Injury Stefon Diggs sits Wednesday

Minnesota Vikings
#Vikings not practicing Sam Bradford (knee), Stefon Diggs (groin) Easton (calf) Sendejo (groin) and Tom Johnson (knee). Sendejo last week had shoulder (Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Diggs was limited Monday night against the Bears with a groin injury and while he later expressed to reporters that he expects to play in Week 6, he'll likely be less than 100 percent. He'll be a risky play for fantasy owners in a plus matchup.

Injury Sam Bradford aggravates knee injury
Case Keenum leads team to victory, likely starter in Week 6
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 10, 10:00 am

Minnesota Vikings
Up 3-2 on the Bears, the Vikings called on backup Case Keenum to close out the half with 25 seconds remaining, pulling Sam Bradford, who was 5-of-11 passing for 36 yards, an average of 3.3 yards per pass. "He aggravated his injury when he got tackled on one of the plays," Zimmer said of Bradford. "I just thought it was best for him that we got him out of there. He didn't want to come out. He wanted to stay in there and fight but I didn't want to get him injured anymore." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Keenum is the safer real-life and fantasy option for the next few weeks as Bradford recuperates and the Vikings evaluate their options when Teddy Bridgewater comes off PUP.

Injury Bradford practices Saturday, gametime decision
Listed as Questionable
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 7, 4:00 pm

Minnesota Vikings
It marks the third straight practice for Sam Bradford, who was limited all week due to his swollen left knee and has not played since the Sept. 11 season opener against the Saints. He’s officially listed as questionable to play Monday night in Chicago, even though Bradford said earlier in the week he didn’t expect to be a game-time decision. “We’ll see,” head coach Mike Zimmer said of Bradford. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Bradford is on the right side of questionable this week, but the Vikings will wait until Monday to let the public now. Bradford's availability would be an upgrade for the offense as a whole.

Injury Sam Bradford ruled out again
Knee injury; Case Keenum to start Week 4
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 28, 6:50 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Sam Bradford (knee) is out Sunday. HC Mike Zimmer: "He's feeling better, he's just not ready to play." (St. Paul Pioneer Press)

FFToday's Take: Case Keenum took advantage of an undermanned Tampa Bay defense in a big way last weekend, but it is fair to wonder if he can do the same against what has been an opportunistic Detroit defense thus far. If last week proved anything though, it might be that owners can feel good about keeping Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen in their lineups.

Injury Bradford headed to see Dr. James Andrews
Still having pain in knee
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 22, 12:02 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings QB Sam Bradford seeking second opinion on knee from Dr. James Andrews, per @mortreport. Has pronounced pain in knee. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This doesn't sound good. Bradford is not expected to play in Week 3 meaning Case Keenum will make his second-straight start. Keenum went 20-37 for 167 yards with zero TDS last week against the Steelers. Keenum represents a downgrade for the Vikings offense as a whole. Dalvin Cook and Stefon Diggs are viable players, but expectations should be tempered.

Case Keenum will start
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 17, 11:30 am

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings QB Sam Bradford is out today vs Pittsburgh and Case Keenum will start vs. the Steelers. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Bradford out Case Keenum will get start. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen get downgrades on this news along with the offense as a whole.

Injury Sam Bradford a gametime decision
Knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 17, 7:30 am

Minnesota Vikings
Vikings believe Sam Bradford, listed as Q for Sunday, will be gametime decision, per source. They plan to work him out pregame, then decide. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Bradford has been bothered by knee discomfort since the Vikings Week 1 victory against the Saints, even receiving an MRI earlier in the week. If he can't go, Case Keenum will get the start meaning a downgrade for the Vikings offense as a whole.

Injury Vikings call up QB Sloter from practice squad
Sam Bradford listed as Questionable
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 16, 2:23 pm

Minnesota Vikings
With concern regarding the health of Sam Bradford's injured left knee, the Minnesota Vikings promoted practice squad quarterback Kyle Sloter to the 53-man roster on Saturday, the team announced. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Bradford had an MRI after the team's Week 1 over New Orleans which came back negative but he reportedly had some swelling in and discomfort in his knee. Calling up Solter suggests there is some concern about Bradford's availability for Week 2. Bradford did fly with the team to Pittsburgh and is currently listed as Questionable.

Injury Teddy Bridgewater is 'progressing well'
One year removed from nasty knee injury
By: Jake Gordon | Tue Aug 29, 8:10 pm

Minnesota Vikings
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, one year removed from a horrific knee injury that some thought would end his career, is "all-in, trying to get ready to play," Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Tuesday. "I don't watch him every single day because he's over there off to the side while we're practicing," Zimmer said. "But the reports I get are all positive." (ESPN.com)

FFToday's Take: Teddy Bridgewater's recovery from knee surgery is going well but he may still land on the PUP list to open the year and has limited appeal in redraft leagues. Sam Bradford is set to become an UFA after this season, making Bridgewater a potential buy low target in dynasty formats.
