2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
While Marvin Jones doesn't quite fit what the Lions offense is capable of doing right now, Golden Tate's game fits like a glove. Tate has been a PPR darling since joining Detroit as a free agent in 2014, piling up 90, 99, and 91 reception seasons. While Jones was lighting things up, Tate was barely breathing during an opening five-game stretch where he totaled 133 yards and no touchdowns. To say the Week 6 line of 8-160-1 line came out of nowhere is an understatement! From that game on, it was clear the Lions offense needed to feature Tate in the passing game to be successful. Tate resumed his go-to status, as Stafford targeted him 10 or more times, seven out of the team's final eleven regular season games.

Like most of the Detroit skill position players, I don't expect a big change in stats. The system, and what the Lions are capable of accomplishing on offense isn't going to change a great deal. The ball control passing game will remain and the Lions should be able to run the ball a bit more if their backs stay healthy. Tate should retain a healthy dose of targets, and be a strong PPR option and a fine bet for WR2 production in standard leagues.

Injury Golden Tate expected to play
Questionable with shoulder injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 29, 7:00 am

Detroit Lions
Lions WR Golden Tate, listed as questionable for Sunday night vs Steelers due to shoulder injury, plans to play, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Tate was limited in practice this week and was originally thought to miss a couple more weeks with his shoulder injury. He'll face a difficult matchup against a Steelers defense that's allowed the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers.

Injury Golladay ruled out, Tate questionable
Tate likely to play
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 27, 1:00 pm

Detroit Lions
Kenny Golladay has officially been knocked out of Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. The Detroit Lions rookie receiver has already missed three games with a hamstring injury. He returned to practice on Wednesday, only to suffer an apparent setback that sidelined him again on Thursday and Friday. Golden Tate listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Tate has practiced all week and seems like a good bet to play. Players listed as questionable by Detroit almost always play on Sunday. (Mlive.com)

FFToday's Take: Golladay had a setback with his hamstring injury but it appears Tate will be able to play against the Steelers Sunday night. Tate was expected to miss "a few weeks" with his shoulder injury so he will be difficult to trust in a tough matchup.

Injury Golden Tate uncertain for Week 8
Will likely be a gametime decision
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 26, 12:17 pm

Detroit Lions
Golden Tate said he’s working hard to rehab his shoulder, but doesn’t know if he’ll be ready Sunday. Said trainers & coaches will make call (Tim Twentyyman on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Tate was reportedly set to miss "a few weeks" when he originally injured his shoulder in Week 6. More thank likely he will be inactive leaving the receiving work to be handled by Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay, T.J. Jones and running back Theo Riddick. The Steelers have given up the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers.

Golden Tate expected to miss multiple weeks
AC joint sprain
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 16, 7:15 pm

Detroit Lions
Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate is dealing with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder and will miss "a few weeks," NFL Network reported Monday. (MLive.com - Nate Atkins)

FFToday's Take: Shoulder injuries ruled the day in Week 6, although the Lions got a bit lucky in the sense they are heading into their bye week. Although rate of recovery can differ from person and person and depends on the severity, AC joint sprains often come with a 2-4 week timetable. In the interim, Eric Ebron could see an uptick in usage out of the slot. Marvin Jones will be asked to assume the lead receiver role, while Kenny Golladay and T.J. Jones will also factor in.

Injury Emmanuel Sanders to miss Week 7
Likely to be sidelined multiple weeks with ankle sprain
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 16, 7:05 pm

Denver Broncos
Emmanuel Sanders, Isaiah McKenzie each have ankle sprains, but no breaks. They will miss game vs. LA Chargers at least, per source. (9NewsDenver - Mike Klis)

FFToday's Take: Sanders will likely miss multiple weeks with the injury. The Broncos just came off their bye in Week 5 before laying an egg against the Giants, so owners aren't going to get the same break with him as they will with Golden Tate. Denver was already low on impact receivers before the injury, meaning Demaryius Thomas will likely get fed a ton of target. Bennie Fowler figures to benefit as well and can be added in deeper leagues.

Injury Kenny Golladay misses practice Friday
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 29, 12:10 pm

Detroit Lions
Two missed practice days in a row doesn't bode well for Kenny Golladay's availability Sunday against the Vikings. If he can't go, TJ Jones could get a lot more reps and is an intriguing fantasy flier. Also could lead to more two TE sets against Minnesota. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Golladay missed practice on Thursday as well, suggesting he'll like be inactive on Sunday. With Xavier Rhodes expected to cover Marvin Jones, Golden Tate should be heavily targeted by Matthew Stafford in Week 4. T.J. Jones should also see increased snaps if Golladay sits.

Injury OBJ active, Janoris Jenkins not in Week 2
Beckham set to make season debut
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 18, 7:15 pm

New York Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) officially ACTIVE for Giants. CB Janoris Jenkins (ankle, hand) is OUT. (ESPN - Dan Graziano)

FFToday's Take: OBJ appears near 100 percent in warmups, so start him if you got him, even though he has a difficult matchup with Darius Slay likely chasing him around. As for Jenkins, he will be missed, so owners can upgrade Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay a bit. Before owners go to crazy on loading up on either Lion, however, the Giants still have 2016 first-round Eli Apple and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. If anything, Golden Tate might see the biggest bump for fantasy purposes.
