Steelers match Sanders' offer sheet -- Sun Apr 14 6:00 pm --
Pittsburgh retains starting wideout | The Steelers, deciding they could not lose another veteran receiver, today matched the one-year, $2.5 million offer sheet Emmanuel Sanders signed with the New England Patriots five days ago.
That keeps Sanders for at least one more season in Pittsburgh, but he can leave as an unrestricted free agent next year if they do not come to a longer-term deal. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette )
FF Today's Take: Sanders is currently penciled in as a starter opposite Antonio Brown but the Steelers may seek wide receiver help in the upcoming draft. The Patriots may also been in the wide receiver market at draft time as Danny Amendola, Donald Jones and Michael Jenkins are currently the projected top three wideouts.

Steelers have five days to match, or receive 3rd round pick | The New England Patriots on Wednesday signed Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free-agent wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to an offer sheet, a league source said. The source said the offer sheet is a one-year deal. The Steelers have five days to decide whether to match the offer or let Sanders go to the Patriots and receive a third-round draft choice from New England in return. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take: The Steelers have a dicey cap situation which may push them into taking the 3rd round pick from New England and letting Sanders go. That would leave them very thin at wide receiver with Antonio Brown, Jerricho Cotchery and Plaxico Burress as the top three wideouts. Wide receiver will be a priority for Pittsburgh in the upcoming NFL Draft.

WR may not be going anywhere after all | When news broke of the New England Patriots hosting wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders on rare restricted free-agent visit, the natural reaction was that Brandon Lloyd's roster spot is in jeopardy. It turns out Lloyd might have found a way to salvage another year with the Patriots. With a $3 million roster bonus due this weekend, Lloyd appears to be willing to return at a reduced salary. The sides have entered into talks to restructure Lloyd's salary, sources tell ESPN. (NFL.com)
FF Today's Take: Perhaps the Patriots aren't prepared to decimate their receiving corps. Lloyd fills the role of a rangy outside threat, a vital change of pace for an offense that likes to throw the ball over the middle so frequently.
| | Dwyer, Redman get tendered -- Tue Mar 12 12:15 pm --
Steelers can now match any offer received in free agency | The Pittsburgh Steelers have tendered offers to four restricted free agents, including running backs Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman along with wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. The offers give the Steelers the right to match any offer sheet the players may receive from other teams during free agency. Dwyer has already signed his sixth-round tender, worth $1.323 million. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take: With Rashard Mendenhall exiting via free agency, Dwyer and Redman will likely share duties at running back for the Steelers in 2013 unless the Steelers pursue a free agent running back or address the position in the draft. This is a fantasy situation will have more clarity by the time training camp comes around in late July.
