2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
As the newest addition to the Denver offense, Emmanuel Sanders steps into a situation that could not possibly be better for the fifth-year receiver coming off of his best season yet. Sanders' 67 receptions for 740 yards and six touchdowns with the Steelers in 2013 were all career bests as he played opposite Antonio Brown for the majority of the season. On a new roster, Sanders will have to learn a highly complicated offense that requires tremendous focus and execution if he wants to see any looks from Peyton Manning. The Broncos run more three-wide sets than just about any team in the league, which means Sanders will see plenty of playing time. That does not necessarily mean that he is going to simply slide in and replace Eric Decker's 87 receptions for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns. While Sanders possesses big play ability, his 5'11, 180-pound frame is not a comparison for the 6'3, 215 pound Decker. Sanders will be used differently in the Denver offense than Decker was and that should both excite and worry potential fantasy owners. Don't expect to see anywhere near as many targets go Sanders' way as did Decker's, but look for those opportunities to be potential huge plays. It would not be surprising to see Sanders improve on his yardage and touchdown totals from 2013 while actually seeing a small dip in total receptions. The hype train on Sanders has been strong this offseason with him being drafted as a WR3 in most leagues. While the hype may be warranted, having Sanders as a WR4 would be much more palatable given the strong possibility of some serious inconsistency from him this season, especially early in the year while he's still gaining Manning's trust.

News From The Past 90 Days
Wes Welker suspended four games
Use of amphetamines
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Sep 2, 7:07 pm

Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has been suspended four games for use of amphetamines, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Welker was excused from practice Aug. 20-21 to attend his appeal hearing, sources told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Welker will have plenty of time to get through the leagues' concussion protocol. The Broncos have a bye in Week 4 so the earliest Welker could return to the field would be Week 6. Emmanuel Sanders becomes legit WR2 option and keep in mind, the Broncos used tight end Jacob Tamme in the slot during Welker's absence last season.

Injury Welker cleared for individual drills
Has yet to be cleared for full-contact practices
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 1, 3:45 pm

Denver Broncos
On Monday, WR Wes Welker (concussion) returned to practice. He will participate in individual drills but has yet to be cleared to play in the team's season-opener Sunday night against the Colts, reports USAToday.com's Lindsay Jones. If all goes well, Welker will return to full-contact practices before he will be allowed to suit up against the Colts. The Broncos remain cautiously optimistic about those prospects. If Welker can't go, expect Emmanuel Sanders, signed this offseason, to step into his role. (CBS Sports)

FFToday's Take: Nine days ago, Welker suffered his third concussion in 10 months. From a fantasy perspective, the latest one turned Welker from a fairly safe WR2 in most formats into an incredibly high-risk WR3 whose career might be close to over. If he manages to play and avoid any more head trauma, he is a good bet for at least 80 catches. But that is a big if and one owners will have to weigh when drafting or trading for him.

Injury Monte Ball to suit up Saturday night
Revovering from appendectomy on Aug. 4th
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Aug 23, 11:30 am

Denver Broncos
Broncos starters Von Miller and Montee Ball are expected to make their 2014 preseason debuts Saturday. Ball, the Broncos' top tailback, has been out since undergoing an appendectomy Aug. 4. He did little physically for two weeks, then was medically cleared for full practice participation Monday. Emmanuel Sanders, a starting receiver who missed the Broncos' preseason game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers with a strained quad, also is expected to play. (Denver Post)

FFToday's Take: Ball began taking 11-on-11 reps Thursday. Don't expect a huge workload for Broncos projected starting tailback tonight but it is a good sign to see him active in the third preseason game. He remains a fantasy RB1 prospect in the late first or early second round or redraft leagues.

Injury Emmanuel Sanders returns to practice
Thigh injury

FFToday's Take: Sanders has been dealing with a thigh injury and missed the Broncos preseason game last week. No word yet if Sanders will play this Saturday night against the Texans. More reps with the first team offense would be nice as we're just two weeks away from the start of the season.
