2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
No player's value likely dropped more than Eric Decker's this offseason. Switching from Peyton Manning to Geno Smith at quarterback will do that. On the positive side, Decker will no longer compete with Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Julius Thomas for targets in the passing game. On the negative side, Decker will no longer have Thomas, Welker and Thomas drawing attention away from him. Decker's detractors will likely call him a product of Manning; however, he is a solid wide receiver in his own right. As a second-year player he managed to put up a 44-612-8 stat line despite playing mostly with Tim Tebow under center. Looking a bit deeper, during the first four weeks of that season Decker caught 20 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns when Kyle Orton was at quarterback. That put him on pace for an 80-1,080-16 stat line over a full season. Decker will likely not reach 16 touchdowns in 2014 but 80 receptions and 1,000 yards are reachable goals with even a minimal jump from Smith during his sophomore season. The fact that Decker should be the focus of opposing defenses does present its problems and the team will need third-year WR Stephen Hill to step up his game and help create space underneath by drawing coverage deep.

Comment: Decker becomes a No. 1 wideout with Jets but his fantasy stock takes a huge hit.

Harvin reportedly traded to Jets
Seahawks receive conditional mid-round pick
By: Doug Orth | Fri Oct 17, 5:50 pm

New York Jets
BREAKING: The Jets have just agreed with Seattle to a trade sending WR Percy Harvin to New York for conditional pick. (Jay Glazer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This one is a stunner and has fairly far-reaching implications for both teams. By making this move, the Seahawks essentially are scrapping the misdirection part of their offense and likely recommitting themselves to Marshawn Lynch. Doug Baldwin should see his stock increase the most among Seattle wideouts. The Jets now have a dynamic (albeit injury-prone) playmaker opposite Eric Decker that should aid Geno Smith's development.

Injury Eric Decker uncertain for Week 5
Hamstring tightness
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 2, 5:40 pm

New York Jets WR Eric Decker sat out practice with tightness in his balky right hamstring, leaving his status uncertain for the team's game San Diego on Sunday. Decker was limited Wednesday, but participated only in individual drills Thursday before he was told to sit out the rest of practice as a precaution. Decker has been bothered by the hamstring since injuring it in Week 2 at Green Bay. He has been listed as questionable before each of the last two games, but played in both. (USA Today)

FFToday's Take: To his credit, Decker has been reasonably productive despite being dogged by his hamstring. With that said, the Jets would be well-advised to give their top receiver the 1-2 weeks he needs to completely heal. New York isn't going to speed up Geno Smith's learning curve by giving him a top receiver that is far from 100 percent. Jeremy Kerley would likely serve as the Smith's favorite receiver if Decker is forced to sit.

Injury Hamstring keeps Decker out of practice Wed.
Rex Ryan optimistic that Decker will play MNF
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 17, 7:04 pm

New York Jets
FLORHAM PARK - Though Jets wide receiver Eric Decker did not practice Wednesday, because he tweaked his hamstring in Sunday’s loss at Green Bay, he said it was "a good sign" that he was able to do some jogging in the rehab area of the practice field, under the supervision of trainers. Moreover, Jets coach Rex Ryan sounded optimistic that both Decker and cornerback Dee Milliner will play Monday night against the Bears. (NJ.com)

FFToday's Take: Through two weeks of action the Jets are ranked 29th in offensive passing yards per game while the Bears defense is giving up under 200 yards through the air. Considering the fact that the Jets play on Monday night fantasy owners should play it safe by going with a different option for Week 3. Decker owners willing to roll the dice may want to consider picking up Jeremy Kerley or David Nelson in case the Jets keep their top receiving threat on the sideline.

Injury Eric Decker re-injures hamstring
Jets wideout bothered by hamstring injury in preseason
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 15, 9:00 am

New York Jets
The New York Jets suffered a potentially costly injury Sunday, as wide receiver Eric Decker exited in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. It's the same hamstring that nagged Decker throughout training camp, except this time the injury is believed to be more severe. He will have tests Monday, presumably an MRI. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Decker is the key receiver for the Jets so his loss would be a significant blow to the offense. Jeremy Kerley is operating as the No.2 wideout. David Nelson would likely slide into a starting role if Decker misses any time.
