2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
Eric Decker played second fiddle like no other last season, able to finish as a fantasy WR1 despite being the second best receiver on his own team. He caught 80 passes for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns in 15 games and also had the trust of his quarterback. Much like Marshall, Decker is big bodied at 6’3”, 215 and won the battle for the ball even when the coverage was tight. He has lobbied to be used more on deep routes this season, but that isn’t necessarily Fitzpatrick’s strength. The team is better off using Devin Smith, when healthy or Quincy Enunwa to draw the coverage deep and let Marshall and Decker eat up the defenses underneath. Decker spent a lot of time in the slot last season for the first time in his career and was successful in that role for the Chan Gailey offense. He was also tremendous in the red-zone, leading all receivers with 28 redzone targets and scoring 10 of his 12 TDs from inside the 20. Fitzpatrick is likely to regress coming off a career year, but Decker’s role in the offense and track record of steady production makes him at worst a low end WR2/high end WR3 in fantasy, with obvious upside.

Injury Brandon Marshall not ruled out for Sunday
Jets WR feels "stable" and might take on Chiefs
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 20, 10:19 am

New York Jets
Brandon Marshall didn't practice Monday because of the knee injury he suffered in the Jets' win over the Bills on Thursday — one that looked much worse at first glance — but he remains optimistic he'll have a chance to play Sunday when the Jets take on the Chiefs in Kansas City. (New York Daily News)

FFToday's Take: "The school I come from is, don't rule me out until Sunday. I need all the way up until pregame warmup to see if I'm good to go," Marshall said Monday. "Right now, I feel stable. I feel good. And I'm going to work my tail off to get out there and be out there with the guys." This is worth monitoring, but with Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa (ribs) playing well, Marshall may not have to be forced back into action so quickly.

Jets release TE Jace Amaro
Position remains an afterthought
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 3, 12:55 pm

New York Jets
New York has waived cornerback Dee Milliner and tight end Jace Amaro, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source. Amaro was selected in the second round (49th overall) of the 2014 draft and after appearing in 14 games as a rookie (recording 38 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns), missed all of 2015 with a torn shoulder labrum. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: The Jets abandoned the TE position last season (8 receptions total) and funneled the majority of their targets to Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. They seem to be heading down the same offensive path this season.

Jets, Fitzpatrick agree on one-year deal
$12 million contract
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Jul 27, 7:19 pm

New York Jets
The New York Jets and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick ended their five-month contract dispute on Wednesday. The two sides finalized a one-year, $12 million contract on the eve of the team's first training-camp practice, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The deal also includes another $3 million in incentives, which could boost the value to $15 million, a source told Schefter. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The two sides had been at a standoff for months but now that a deal is done, fantasy owners of the Jets' skill position players, specifically Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, can breathe a sigh of relief. Fitzpatrick is coming off his best season as a pro, finishing as a low-end QB1.
