2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
Following an abysmal first season in Seattle, tight end Jimmy Graham reminded all of us how good he really is when he exploded back into the top of the fantasy ranks with a 900-plus yard season with six scores, allowing him to finish as the No. 2 fantasy tight end in 2016. While those numbers are still a far cry from the numbers he was putting up in New Orleans, Graham remains one of the top fantasy tight ends heading into this season, even if he is on an offense that is substantially more run-heavy than the ones he was a part of with the Saints.

What's even more impressive about Graham's return to fantasy greatness is that he did so less than a full year after suffering a horrific patellar tendon rupture in late November of 2015. Now fully recovered, Graham should be in line to remain one of Seattle's primary weapons in the passing game.

The tight end position as a whole is a mess heading into this season, but Graham represents what should be considered about the end of the "safe" options at the position. He's going behind the likes of Rob Gronkowski, Travis Kelce, Jordan Reed and even Greg Olsen in most leagues, but he's certainly safer than the players like Tyler Eifert, Martellus Bennett and Hunter Henry who are going behind him.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Doug Baldwin a gametime decision
Groin injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 29, 1:15 pm

Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll said in his weekly interview with Seattle's KIRO Radio 97.3 FM that the Seahawks probably won't know until Sunday if WR Doug Baldwin (groin) will be available against the Colts. Baldwin said this week that he plans to play. Carroll said RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) is still hobbling and that it would take an "enormous jump" for him to make it back by Sunday. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Unfortunately, the Seahawks and Colts play Sunday night, meaning we likely won't know Baldwin's status until late in the day. There is optimism that Baldwin will play but if he doesn't, Paul Richards, Jimmy Graham and Tyler Locket will be Russell Wilson's top targets.

Injury Jimmy Graham status unclear
Sore ankle, knee?
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 18, 1:00 pm

Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll says on radio show Jimmy Graham has a sore ankle and that it's unclear if he will play Sunday at Tennessee. “Jimmy’s got a sore ankle today,” Carroll said. “I don’t know what this week is going to be for him. I’m not sure yet.” (Bob Condotta on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Seattle tight end has 9 receiving yards on 9 targets through two games. Luke Willson and Nick Vannett are next up in the depth chart but it would be difficult for fantasy owners to trust either given the state of the Seahawks offense.

Jimmy Graham feels "almost 100 times better"
Weighing in at 260 pounds after playing at 280 last year
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 7, 5:55 pm

Seattle Seahawks
During a 710 ESPN Seattle interview with John Clayton, Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham said he feels "almost a 100 times" better than he did at this time last season. Graham said he had to rehab from a ruptured patellar tendon injury twice a day all last season just to get ready for games. He said he played at around 280 pounds and is now down to 260. Graham had 923 receiving yards last year, third-best among tight ends. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Once considered Rob Gronkowski's only rival among fantasy tight ends, Graham became the first NFL player of note last season to enjoy a decent amount of success coming off a ruptured patellar tendon. It probably doesn't help the stock much he is now 30 years old, but the drop in weight - assuming he has kept most of his natural athleticism - should be good for him moving forward. He's a value pick in the sixth round of fantasy drafts.
