2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Julio Jones was well on his way to posting a terrific fantasy campaign in 2013 before a foot injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season. The only limiting factor for Jones in 2014 is his health, which has kept him limited in OTAs to this point. He has had plenty of recovery time since the surgery and is already running routes, so fantasy owners should feel fine drafting him among the elite receivers at his position. Matt Ryan threw to Jones 60 times in only five games last season. That number represented nearly half of Jones' season total in 2012. Jones will garner plenty of attention from opposing defenses, but that isn't likely to prevent Matt Ryan from finding him down the field. The stars are aligning for Jones to have a career season so long as he can stave off the injury bug.

Comment: Jones (foot) has been eased into training camp. He's capable of being fantasy football's No. 1 wide receiver.

Injury Julio Jones to increase workload
Falcons receiver feeling 'no pain' in surgically repaired foot
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Aug 20, 5:19 pm

Atlanta Falcons
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, who admitted having a mental hurdle to overcome following a second right foot surgery last year, said Wednesday the doctors reassured him his foot is fully healed, and he will increase his practice schedule. (ESPN.com)

FFToday's Take: Another step in the right direction for Julio Jones. This is on par with previous reports that had Jones progressing well throughout the offseason. He played in his first game last week and now it sounds like Matt Ryan's top target will begin practicing on consecutive days. Fantasy owners are wisely making him a top ten fantasy wideout in recent weeks and should get a good look at him Saturday night against the Titans.

Injury Julio Jones will be limited to begin camp
Falcons star receiver cleared for training camp
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Jul 23, 7:05 am

Atlanta Falcons
Julio Jones, the Falcons’ dynamic young wide receiver, has been cleared for training camp practice, which starts on Friday, head coach Mike Smith told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday. However, Jones, who’s recovering from foot surgery, will be limited. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

FFToday's Take: Jones is coming his second foot surgery for the same issue so it's wise for the team to be cautious with their star receiver. The fact that his snaps will be limited shouldn't change his status as a WR1.

Injury ATL confident Julio Jones will return to old self
Under contract through 2015
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jul 10, 4:40 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Giving QB Matt Ryan all the protection in the world means nothing without playmakers catching the ball. That's why the Falcons have to lock up top receiver Julio Jones with a lucrative, long-term contract. Although Jones is coming off a significant foot injury, the Falcons are certain he'll return to his old explosive self. At his best, Jones is probably one of the top two receivers in the league, along with Calvin Johnson. Johnson makes $16 million per year; Jones will make $10,176,000 in 2015 as part of the option year. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Jones' recovery figures to be one of the more-discussed subjects of training camp, but there is not debating that he is a top-five receiver when healthy. Despite questions about his foot going forward, it is unlikely he will slip much past his early-second round ADP in standard and PPR formats.

Injury Julio Jones limited in OTAs
Falcons receiver recovering from foot surgery
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Jun 10, 3:43 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones finished another grueling workout off to the side with the team’s training staff Tuesday, while the rest of the team trudged through OTA No. 7. “The last couple of weeks, I’ve been cutting and running a handful of routes,” Jones saide. “Nothing major, but you’ve got to start somewhere. We have to get back out there and get going, but I feel pretty good.” (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

FFToday's Take: It's somewhat alarming that Jones still has restrictions considering surgery was done last October, however the team insists that he is ahead of schedule and should make a full recovery. Julio was easily on pace to finish as a top five fantasy WR in any format last season and should be drafted as such this season until further notice.

Injury Julio Jones on schedule for training camp
Team on "pins and needles" as WR recovers from foot injury
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jun 2, 2:55 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons HC Mike Smith reiterated how Julio Jones is on schedule for training camp. Falcons WR coach Terry Robiskie is cautiously optimistic about his return, although not seeing the receiver do any type of on-field work at this point would appear to be a cause for concern. "We'll be watching him a little bit kind of standing on pins and needles," Robiskie said. Robiskie watched his top two receivers get bit with injury bug last season. Besides Jones, No. 2 receiver Roddy White endured ankle and hamstring issues that limited his effectiveness for a good part of the season. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: White also missed the start of OTAs while mourning the death of his younger brother, so his status for the remainder of the offseason remains unclear. Injuries wrecked havoc on the Falcons' offense last year, but a healthy Jones and White together comprise one of the league's most dynamic receiving duos. With White set to turn 33, the 25-year-old Jones will be counted upon to be the game-changer in the offense.
