2018 Outlook
Depth Chart
Following the trade of Adrian Peterson, Mark Ingram joined the elite running backs despite sharing the load with breakout rookie, Kamara. Early in the off-season, it became clear that Ingram would remain with the team in 2018 and while Kamara was likely to see his role increase, Ingram still appeared to be a highly sought after fantasy asset. And then the four-game suspension came down.

If there was a certainty that Ingram walks back into his job in Week 5, he's a RB2 in all formats and should remain a target in the early rounds. But after 2017, there's some evidence that he may be left on the sidelines. Willie Snead's return from suspension in 2017 and subsequent lack of production should give drafters enough pause to pass on Ingram for known commodities in the middle rounds, but his ADP should be tracked. If he falls into the low-end RB3 price range, he could be a sneaky stash pick (if your league has a deep bench) that helps with a late-season run, but tread carefully because expectations should be limited and Ingram will only play in one game during the first six weeks as New Orleans has a Week 6 bye.

Saints sign RB Mike Gillislee
Saints in need of RB depth
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 2, 5:12 pm

New Orleans
After keeping just two true running backs on their initial 53-man roster, the New Orleans Saints signed running back Mike Gillislee Sunday (Sept. 2) according to an NFL.com report. Gillislee was released by the Patriots on Saturday (Sept. 1) after rushing for 960 yards and 13 touchdowns the last two years. (Times Picyanue)

FFToday's Take: With Mark Ingram suspended and the release of Jonathan Williams, the Saints were in need of running back help, especially for the first few weeks of the season. With only Boston Scott on the depth chart behind Alvin Kamara, Gillislee could be a short-yardage goaline option in New Orleans.

Jonathan Williams making a move?
RB could be poised to replace Mark Ingram during his suspension
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 13, 5:40 pm

New Orleans
Mark Ingram isn’t making it easy to forget that he will be suspended for the first four games of the season. It seems like he has a carry every day that makes you take note of his presence on the field. He just moves differently than the guys contending to fill in for him. As far as that battle goes, it looks like Jonathan Williams is making a run up the depth chart. Hopefully, he gets a chance to play against Arizona’s starters so we can find out how good he really is. (The New Orleans Advocate)

FFToday's Take: HC Sean Payton has stated multiple times he does not expect Alvin Kamara's workload to increase much during Ingram's absence, leaving the door for someone like Williams to get some solid playing time in September. It's not inconceivable someone with as much talent as Williams could impress enough during Ingram's absence to carve out a bit of a role for himself even after Ingram returns. Still, he's a late-round lottery ticket in deeper leagues at best.
