| MJD still uncertain for Week 3 -- Thu Sep 19 5:05 pm --|
MJD confident, team not so much about status
|Despite sitting out practice Wednesday with a strained left ankle tendon, Maurice Jones-Drew said he is “confident” he will play Sunday at Seattle.
An MRI on Monday revealed no damage, but swelling forced him to sit out the workout at San Jose State.
“I feel like I’ll be fine,” Jones-Drew said. “It’s kind of a little setback, but we’ll see how things go today and hopefully I’ll be out there [Thursday] or Friday. I should be ready to go.” (Florida Times-Union)|
FF Today's Take: MJD owners would just as soon see him sit out Week 4 because Week 3 in Seattle does not look promising for any Jacksonville player. To that end, Jaguars.com senior writer John Oehser tweeted Thursday, "MJD won't practice (Thursday). (HC Gus) Bradley says status for Sunday is up on the air." Regardless of his status, he should be benched this week in most leagues. Jordan Todman and Justin Forsett would split carries in his absence.
| MJD likley to be limited in practice -- Tue Sep 17 2:50 pm --|
|The Jaguars seem optimistic that standout running back Maurice Jones-Drew might not miss a game after injuring his ankle during Sunday’s 19-9 loss at Oakland. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Monday that Jones-Drew suffered a tendon strain. “We’ll know a little more Wednesday, but on all accounts it looks pretty good,” Bradley said. “I know he felt good this morning, so that’s a positive sign. … It’s a tendon strain, so good news for us.”
FF Today's Take: Expect MJD to be limited on Wednesday and Thursday if he practices at all. Jordan Todman and Justin Forsett would make a RBBC if Jones-Drew is out. Neither would be a viable fantasy starter in 12-team leagues.
| MJD has "tendon sprain" -- Mon Sep 16 4:15 pm --|
Status uncertain for Week 3
|Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew suffered a left ankle sprain midway through the second quarter and was unable to return to the game. The Jaguars said Jones-Drew would have an MRI to determine the damage, but that X-rays were negative.
Jones-Drew was injured with more than eight minutes left in the second quarter and spent the second half in the training room. He suffered the injury when Oakland FS Charles Woodson hit him high, throwing his arm around Jones-Drew’s neck. The collision caused Jones-Drew to fall awkwardly, similar to a player who has been horse-collared. (Florida Times-Union)|
FF Today's Take: Beat writer Ryan O'Halloran tweeted MJD has a tendon sprain, although he stated HC Gus Bradley said his running back felt better on Monday. In all honesty, the Jags would be best served to give MJD a week off if he is anything short of 100%. Jacksonville heads to Seattle in Week 3 to face a Seahawks' team that shut down Frank Gore on Sunday night. For owners looking for a MJD handcuff, Jordan Todman saw 35 snaps to Justin Forsett's 14 in Week 2.
