2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
One of the premiere slot receivers in the league, Doug Baldwin has also proven that he is one of the top fantasy wide receivers after back-to-back years finishing as a WR1. Baldwin's 2015 season was seen by many as being a little fluky due to an insane touchdown run, but he was able to remain extremely productive even when his touchdown total was chopped in half in 2016. At 5'10" and less than 200 lbs, Baldwin doesn't project as a prototypical red zone threat so his seven touchdowns in 2016 would seem to be more in line with what we should expect moving forward, but Baldwin does the majority of his fantasy damage with sheer volume. Baldwin's 94 receptions in 2016 were 16 more than he had caught in his best previous season and he also set a career high with 1,128 receiving yards.

Perhaps the best thing for Baldwin's fantasy value is the reality that the Seahawks simply did not invest into their wide receivers heading into the 2017 season. Baldwin was clearly the team's top target in each of the past two seasons and that doesn't seem likely to change this season. The nice thing about Baldwin being the team's top target while primarily playing out of the slot is that he is able to avoid many of the league's top cornerbacks as most of them simply are not asked to play inside, even against teams like Seattle who do not have great outside weapons. That should mean a continued high target volume and thus a high floor most weeks making Baldwin of the safer options on the board.

Injury Doug Baldwin expected to play
Groin injury still an issue
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 1, 7:15 am

Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin is going to try to play Sun night vs. Colts with groin injury, per source. Injury been an issue. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: If Baldwin plays, he'll likely be less than 100 percent and could be limited Sunday night. It's tough spot for Baldwin fantasy owners, especially in a good matchup against the Colts. Tyler Lockett and Paul Richardson could see more opportunities if Baldwin is limited.

Injury Doug Baldwin a gametime decision
Groin injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 29, 1:15 pm

Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll said in his weekly interview with Seattle's KIRO Radio 97.3 FM that the Seahawks probably won't know until Sunday if WR Doug Baldwin (groin) will be available against the Colts. Baldwin said this week that he plans to play. Carroll said RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) is still hobbling and that it would take an "enormous jump" for him to make it back by Sunday. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Unfortunately, the Seahawks and Colts play Sunday night, meaning we likely won't know Baldwin's status until late in the day. There is optimism that Baldwin will play but if he doesn't, Paul Richards, Jimmy Graham and Tyler Locket will be Russell Wilson's top targets.

Seahawks ship WR Jermaine Kearse to Jets
Seattle lands DL Sheldon Richardson
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 1, 2:42 pm

New York Jets
The Seattle Seahawks' terrifying defense just hit the upgrade button. The Seahawks acquired defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson from the New York Jets in exchange for receiver Jermaine Kearse and a 2018 second-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported, per sources informed of the pact. The teams also swapped seventh-round selections in the deal. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: The Jets bolstered(?) their amazingly thin receiving corps with Kearse who should have a good chance at steady playing time. That being said, his fantasy value remains minimal given the sorry state of the Jets offense. Tyler Lockett Paul Richardson and Kasen Williams move up the depth chart in Seattle behind Doug Baldwin.

Seahawks WR corps rounding into form
Paul Richardson emerging as No. 3 over Jermaine Kearse
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 8, 10:40 am

Seattle Seahawks
ESPN is reporting that Paul Richardson appears to be the No. 3 behind Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett (leg), and that this could be the best group of pass-catching weapons that Russell Wilson has ever had. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The Seahawks' quarterback has showcased the diverse array of weapons at his disposal, including the speed of Lockett and Richardson and mismatches with guys like Graham and C.J. Prosise. Baldwin presents a problem for defenses operating out of the slot. This looks to be another good bet for fantasy production, and Wilson is a safe bet for solid numbers with plenty of upside.
