2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Andrew Luck is one of the premier fantasy players in the league, and 2015 may see him get even better. His name is being tossed around as the top player off the board, and why wouldn’t it be after he saw his touchdown total jump from 23 in 2013 to 40 last year? If not for a lackluster three weeks to close out the regular season, Luck’s per-game statistics would be even better. The coaching staff clearly trusts their franchise quarterback to win them football games and relies on his arm to dissect opposing defenses. This pass-happy approach allowed Luck to finish third in the NFL with 297.6 passing yards per game. His receiving corps is arguably better and deeper with the addition of Andre Johnson and expected return to health of tight end Dwayne Allen. The running game was anemic a year ago, but the play-action pass should be far more effective with Frank Gore lining up behind Luck in the backfield. At the end of the day, Luck gives you a high ceiling, high consistency and high volume. He may not be the top player when the season ends, but he is probably the best bet to finish the season as a top-five overall fantasy player.

Matt Hasselbeck was resigned in the offseason to handle the backup quarterback duties. This is what happens when a team knows it has its starter for the next decade and doesn’t want to invest more resources in the position. Hasselbeck will turn 40 this year, and chances are the Colts would make a transaction if Luck was forced to miss a lengthy amount of time.

Injury Colts' 1st round pick remains out with knee injury
Rookie WR Dorsett likely to miss tilt with Rams
By: John Canario | Fri Aug 28, 6:05 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Rookie WR Phillip Dorsett (knee contusion) has not practiced all week. Dorsett has worked on the sidelines with trainers doing rehab. He is not expected to be available for the St. Louis Rams game on Saturday night. He could be a game-time decision. (Global Post)

FFToday's Take: Over the years, there have not been many occasions where teams have three fantasy-relevant wide receivers. However, Andrew Luck just might complete enough passes this season to make one of Phillip Dorsett or Donte Montcrief worth owning, in addition to T.Y. Hilton and Andre Johnson. For now, Montcrief with his health and experience has a leg up, but that could change over the course of the season.

Andre Johnson excited to play with Andrew Luck
WR calls new QB “arguably the best” in the game
By: John Canario | Fri Aug 14, 3:20 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Andre Johnson is starting over. After thriving for 12 seasons in Houston, he's working with a new quarterback and learning a new playbook. On Sunday at Philadelphia, Johnson's transformation will be complete when he dons a Colts jersey for his first game. "I don't really bring much attention to that," he said. "I just try to treat it as football — with a different team." Despite helping Houston go from fledgling franchise to division champ in less than a decade, Johnson never reached a conference championship game and never played with a true franchise quarterback. In Indy, things are very different. "I wanted to be at a place that had a stable quarterback," Johnson said after signing his three-year, $21 million deal in March. "I feel like Andrew (Luck) is arguably the best quarterback in the game." (Bellingham Herald)

FFToday's Take: Johnson, though certainly past his prime at 34, will be playing with the best quarterback of his career in Andrew Luck. The Colts like to throw the ball a lot, so if Johnson’s health holds up he has WR2 upside. Expect him to double and perhaps even triple his three touchdown total from last season.

Frank Gore singing Andrew Luck's praises
And takes shot at Colin Kaepernick at the same time?
By: John Canario | Fri Aug 7, 3:55 pm

Indianapolis Colts
That didn't take long. After less than a week of training camp, new Colts running back Frank Gore is already sold on Andrew Luck. The 32-year-old proclaimed after three short practices that Luck is the best quarterback he has ever played with. Gore believes that the 2015 Colts will likely end up being the best offense he has ever played with, and that's thanks in large part to Luck, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. "I think if we keep working and keep going and get that gelled, I think by far it can [be the best offense]. Especially with No. 12, man," Gore said on Wednesday. "I'm not knocking my other quarterbacks. I respect them other guys, but being around this guy a couple months, he's a different breed. He's smart. He makes me feel young. He runs the huddle. I never had that." (CBS Sports)

FFToday's Take: It's hard to get excited about an aging Frank Gore, especially because the Colts like to pass so much. But Andrew Luck moves the ball down the field with greater regularity than Colin Kaepernick, and as a result Gore is slated for a lot of goal line work. While 1000 rushing yards might be a stretch, the veteran back has an outside shot at punching in 10 touchdowns in 2015, and could be a steal if still available in the fourth or fifth round of your draft.
