2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Andrew Luck is one of the premier fantasy players in the league, and 2015 may see him get even better. His name is being tossed around as the top player off the board, and why wouldnít it be after he saw his touchdown total jump from 23 in 2013 to 40 last year? If not for a lackluster three weeks to close out the regular season, Luckís per-game statistics would be even better. The coaching staff clearly trusts their franchise quarterback to win them football games and relies on his arm to dissect opposing defenses. This pass-happy approach allowed Luck to finish third in the NFL with 297.6 passing yards per game. His receiving corps is arguably better and deeper with the addition of Andre Johnson and expected return to health of tight end Dwayne Allen. The running game was anemic a year ago, but the play-action pass should be far more effective with Frank Gore lining up behind Luck in the backfield. At the end of the day, Luck gives you a high ceiling, high consistency and high volume. He may not be the top player when the season ends, but he is probably the best bet to finish the season as a top-five overall fantasy player.

Matt Hasselbeck was resigned in the offseason to handle the backup quarterback duties. This is what happens when a team knows it has its starter for the next decade and doesnít want to invest more resources in the position. Hasselbeck will turn 40 this year, and chances are the Colts would make a transaction if Luck was forced to miss a lengthy amount of time.

Josh Freeman expected to start for IND
Colts scrambling for QB help in Week 17
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Jan 3, 7:51 am

Indianapolis Colts
Colts likely to start QB Josh Freeman today vs. Tennessee, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Andrew Luck and Matt Hasselbeck out, the Colts signed Ryan Lindley and Josh Freeman this week. With Freeman getting the start, the entire Colts passing game is an easy fade in daily fantasy.

Injury Andrew Luck still not medically cleared
Two Colts QBs remain doubtful, Stephen Morris to be called to action
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 29, 12:55 pm

Indianapolis Colts
The door isn't closed on quarterback Andrew Luck playing Sunday against Tennessee, but he has still yet to be medically cleared. Coach Chuck Pagano said he, Luck, owner Jim Irsay and general manager Ryan Grigson will discuss whether Luck (kidney/abdomen) will play if he is cleared in time (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Luck has missed the past six games and eight games total this season. He's unlikely to play, and with Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder) doubtful and Charlie Whitehurst on IR, the Colts will probably turn to UDFA Stephen Morris, recently signed off the Eagles practice squad, on Sunday. Yuck.

Injury Andrew Luck ruled out for Week 16
Colts hopeful for Week 17 return
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 21, 7:15 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Colts coach Chuck Pagano announced Monday that Andrew Luck has been ruled out for Week 16 at Miami. The Colts want Luck to be cleared by doctors for game action with enough time to practice all week before he returns. There is not enough time to do so this week. If the Colts beat the Dolphins and remain in contention for the AFC South title, there remains a chance that Luck will be available for the regular-season finale versus the Titans. Although Luck's lacerated kidney was healthy enough for a return to individual drills last week, he had not yet been cleared for 11-on-11 work. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Pagano described Matt Hasselbeck as "beat up from the feet up" on Monday, suggesting the Colts may need to turn to Charlie Whitehurst with the season on the line at Miami. Whatever remaining value players like T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief had with Hasselbeck is essentially shot with "Clipboard Jesus" under center, although the Dolphins have been very accommodating to quarterbacks in recent weeks.

Injury Whitehurst could start for Colts in Week 15
Hasselbeck (left arm, rib) forced from Week 14 loss
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 14, 5:45 pm

Indianapolis Colts
According to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star, Andrew Luck said heís going to try to practice this week, but insisted he will play again this season. Thatís not to say heís going to be ready for Sundayís game against the Texans, but the fact heís close to being cleared to practice after a lacerated kidney is a good sign. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Matt Hasselbeck was spotted with his left arm in a sling. Hasselbeck left last nightís loss to the Jaguars with what was billed as a rib injury. If the 40-year-old backup canít go and Luck isnít ready, that means the Colts have to turn to Charlie Whitehurst. (Pro Football Talk)

FFToday's Take: The legend of "Clipboard Jesus" lives on. Despite Luck's insistence on playing again this season, there are multiple reports that suggest otherwise. Hasselbeck is likely dealing with multiple upper-body injuries and will probably be deemed no better than questionable when the injury reports are released later this week. Whitehurst and T.J. Yates could very well be the starting quarterback next week when the Colts and Texans meet in a battle for AFC South supremacy.

Injury Andrew Luck feeling 'better every day'
Colts QB is throwing again
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Dec 2, 4:00 pm

Indianapolis Colts
INDIANAPOLIS -- Andrew Luck has taken another step in his return to the field for the Colts. The quarterback, who has been out since Nov. 10 with a lacerated kidney and partially torn abdominal muscle, started throwing the football last week and did so again on Wednesday. "Feeling better every day," Luck said. "Getting some good work in, getting back into it and keep working day by day." (ESPN.com)

FFToday's Take: The Colts refuse to put a timeline on Andrew Luck's recovery, but some suggest he will be back before the end of the regular season. HC Chuck Pagano insists that the team's franchise quarterback will not return until he is 100 percent healthy so anyone holding onto him in redraft leagues is simply taking a low risk flier that he might be able to make a splash during the fantasy playoffs.

Injury Pagano wants Luck to "change" running style
Colts coach concerned about QB's long-term halth
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 17, 11:46 am

Indianapolis Colts
Andrew Luck shouldn't be taking big hits, according to Chuck Pagano, who wants him to be more conservative in his running approach. "We're going to talk every day until he figures it out and we figure it out as a team," Pagano said. "He knows full well that he can't do that. He can't put himself and this team in jeopardy. You love the grit, and you love the toughness and all that stuff. But playing the position like a linebacker? You can't." (Indianapolis Star)

FFToday's Take: Luck (kidney) will miss about a month and will be tough to stash as your fantasy season gets into the playoff picture. We don;t recommend a drop, but there's no telling how effective he'll bee when he does return -- especially with Pagano in his head about his playing style. For now, Matt Hasselbeck is slated to be the starter in Week 11 and Charlie Whitehurst is the Colts new backup.
