2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
Expectations were high for the fourth-year wide receiver in 2015, but injuries and a plethora of other options in Arizona didn’t quite allow him to live up to what many fantasy owners hoped for. When he was on the field, Floyd showed us glimpses of greatness. He finished with five 100-plus yard games and scored six touchdowns.

Floyd is now entering his fifth NFL season and more importantly the final year of his contract. We’ve seen other players have huge years in contract seasons, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising if Floyd put up another big season in 2016 so long as he’s able to stay healthy. Floyd finished the season with at least 100 yards and/or a touchdown in seven of his final 10 games. He also scored twice in the playoffs. If he can continue that kind of momentum, there’s no reason why Floyd won’t finish as the Cardinals’ most productive wide receiver.

Injury Malcolm Mitchell expected to be inactive
Pats WR listed as questionable
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Jan 14, 8:30 am

New England Patriots
Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell, listed as questionable for tonight's Divisional Playoff with knee injury, will not play vs Texans, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Mitchell's knee injury will likely land him on the inactive list. Expect Michael Floyd and Danny Amendola to be active and fill the secondary receiver roles for the Patriots. Neither will be viable fantasy options.

Injury Malcolm Mithchell doubtful, knee injury
Not expected to play against Miami

New England Patriots
Rookie wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell is doubtful after both players missed practice Friday. (NESN)

FFToday's Take: Mitchell missed practice Friday with a knee injury and while likely be inactive on Sunday. With his absence, expect Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan and Michael Floyd to be the top three wideouts for Tom Brady. Hogan is worthy of Flex consideration.

Michael Floyd will not be active
Did travel with the team

New England Patriots
New England WR Michael Floyd will not be active today vs. Denver, per source; his Patriots debut will have to wait. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The newest New England Patriot wide receiver did travel with the team but will not be active against the Broncos. Even if he plays in Week 16 against the Jets he will be hard to trust as his snaps will likely be limited.

Patriots claim Michael Floyd off waivers
Pats take flier on former Cardinal
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Dec 15, 3:45 pm

New England Patriots
Source: the Patriots have claimed WR Michael Floyd off of waivers. (Field Yates on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Floyd is coming off a DUI arrest and release from the Cardinals. His play on the field has been questionable at best this season and its difficult to see him making a big impact for the Patriots especially over the next two weeks.

Injury Cardinals release WR Michael Floyd
DUI arrest

Arizona Cardinals
David Johnson288/Michael_Floyd">Michael Floyd two days after he was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and failure to obey a police officer. Floyd was found unconscious behind the wheel of his running vehicle at a Scottsdale intersection early Monday morning, police said. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Floyd has flopped this season and has lost playing to Jaron Brown and J.J. Nelson throughout the season. J.J. Nelson should see increased playing time although with Cardinals focusing on David Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and TE Jermaine Gresham in the passing, Nelson is likely to be overvalued in Week 15.

Injury Michael Floyd will play
Hamstring injury

Arizona Cardinals
Cardinals WR Michael Floyd is playing today. He just told me. (Britt McHenry on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Floyd has been dealing with a hamstring injury but after going through pre-game warmups declared himself a go. His matchup is a great one playing against a Falcons defense minus DB Desmond Trufant that's given up the 7th-most fantasy points to wide receivers.

J.J. Nelson now a starter in Arizona
Moves past Michael Floyd after two-score game in Week 8
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 31, 5:40 pm

Arizona Cardinals
J.J. Nelson had a whale of a game for a backup on Sunday against the Panthers. So good, in fact, he’s now a starter. The second-year wideout hauled in eight catches for 79 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the 30-20 loss to the Panthers, showing his talent as an intermediate receiver rather than just a deep threat. Nelson saw a lot of time because of hamstring injuries to John Brown and Michael Floyd, but coach Bruce Arians didn’t want him referred to as a fill-in. “J.J. didn’t step in,” Arians said. “That’s his job right now, and somebody is going to have to take it back from him.” (azcardinals, com)

FFToday's Take: It's hard to believe the 5-10, 160-pound Nelson has supplanted the 6-2, 220-pound Floyd, but the latter just has never done enough consistently and always seems to be battling injuries. Nelson is one of the fastest players in the NFL and has drawn 19 targets over the last two weeks, and he's probably the second-best receiver in Arizona at the moment with Brown fighting his own health issues. Much like a young DeSean Jackson, Nelson figures to be a boom/bust WR3 going forward.

Injury Michael Floyd "uphill battle" to play
John Brown expected to be active

Arizona Cardinals
#AZCardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) is slated to play after a week out, source said, but WR Michael Floyd has an uphill battle to do so (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Floyd has been battling a hamstring injury and didn't practice much this week. The Cardinals play early so we'll know his status an hour and a half before kickoff. Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown and J.J. Nelson should make up the Cardinals receiving corps against the Panthers.
