| Knowshon Moreno expected to miss 4-8 weeks|
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 14, 8:00 pm
|Moreno was injured on his first touch of the game Sunday in a 29-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills and did not return.
Moreno will miss four to eight weeks with a dislocated elbow and possible fracture. (Miami Herald)|
FFToday's Take: To make matters worse, Lamar Miller left in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury, but should be OK. Rookie Damien Williams is next in line behind Miller with Moreno out.
|Miller and Moreno to continue rotation|
Moreno rushed for 134 yards on 24 carries in opener
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 8, 4:30 pm
|Though Lamar Miller started the game, Knowshon Moreno played more snaps, 48 to 27. Moreno ran for 134 yards on 24 carries (5.6), Miller 59 on 11 (5.4 average).
Lazor said he did not even think about who should be the starter until a team official mentioned to him Monday that reporters might ask him about it.
“The question about who takes the first snap...I hadn’t considered it really yet,” he said. “I expect them both to contribute." (Miami Herald)|
FFToday's Take: Although the assertion that Lazor "had not thought about his starter at running back" is hard to believe, there is every reason to believe Miller and Moreno will continue to rotate snaps. Both backs have a chance to be relevant in fantasy if Miami manages to give its backs 35 carries like it did on Sunday. That's highly unlikely to happen, of course, meaning both backs figure to be flex plays at best for the near future.
|Moreno the "clear lead back" in Miami?|
OC suggests Lamar Miller needs to be more productive
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 1, 3:40 pm
|The Dolphins wanted Lamar Miller to be their starter this season and wanted him to be productive. As it stands now, he's not either. Even if Miller is the player introduced with the starters - which he might not be - it is clear Knowshon Moreno is Miami's lead running back. Miller, who was the starter and unchallenged all preseason, has lost his job as Miami's lead back.
"I've seen lots on the practice field that tells me where we're headed with Lamar and I feel very good about his ability to be productive," OC Bill Lazor said, "but if you're talking about the preseason games his production needs to improve." (Miami Herald)|
FFToday's Take: Lazor is referring to Miller's 3.4 YPC in exhibition play, as compared to Moreno's 6.4. And to be clear, Lazor did not state Miller has lost his starting job. What those stats don't say is that all of Moreno's production came against Dallas' pitiful defense. The Dolphins are kidding themselves if they are counting on Moreno to carry their ground game, so like last year, expect Miller to be involved in a full-blown committee backfield until further notice.
|Miller, Moreno split first team reps last two days|
Philbin non-committal on starting RB
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Aug 26, 9:46 pm
|Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno split first-team snaps the past two days. Joe Philbin said the job is open but has been far more effusive and expansive discussing Miller than Moreno this week.
"I like everything Lamar has done since he’s gotten here," Philbin said. “He’s had an excellent offseason and camp... I like everything he's done since April 21." (Miami Herald)|
FFToday's Take: Reading between the lines it appears Miller still has a leg up on the starting running back job, but in the end it's likely to be a timeshare with Moreno operating on third downs. Both backs are dicey picks in the middle of your fantasy draft.
| Moreno finally getting healthy|
HC says RB "starting to look like kind of his old self"
By: Doug Orth | Thu Aug 14, 4:45 pm
|Dolphins HC Joe Philbin said RB Knowshon Moreno, back from knee surgery, “is starting to look like kind of his old self” in the running game but stopped short of saying he would play Saturday in Tampa. “I don’t know about the passing game quite yet…. He’s looking better.” (Miami Herald)|
FFToday's Take: Moreno missed the bulk of offseason work due to a knee injury (and subsequent scope) and may not have enough time to make up the gap on Lamar Miller. Fortunately for the ex-Bronco, he is a plus-option as a blocker and receiver in the passing game. Miami also figures to run the ball significantly more than it did last season, so if Moreno can make it back and stay healthy, he has a shot at RB4 value in most leagues.
| Knowshon Moreno taken off PUP list|
Will practice today
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Aug 6, 8:38 am
|Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno was taken off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list Wednesday and placed on the active roster. Moreno, the free agent acquisition from Denver, had been sidelined since having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in June. It’s unclear if Moreno would play in Friday’s game at Atlanta, however. (Sun Sentinel)|
FFToday's Take: Moreno's knee procedure occurred in June so he's behind the curve in winning the starting running back job in Miami. Lamar Miller has been running with the first team and should continue to do so until Moreno proves he's healthy. The next couple weeks of camp will go a long way into determining the roles of the top two Miami running backs.
| Knowshon Moreno remains on PUP list|
Still recovering from knee surgery
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Aug 1, 10:00 pm
|With barely a month left until the regular-season opener, the Dolphins’ most accomplished running back sometimes still labors to walk, let alone run. In late June, Knowshon Moreno underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean up his left knee. The original prognosis was he would miss four to five weeks. We’re now well into the sixth week of the rehab, and yet he remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list. (Miami Herald)|
FFToday's Take: Moreno's fantasy stock will take a tumble over the next week while Lamar Miller's will rise. Miller has been running with the first team offense in Moreno's absence. Fantasy owners shouldn't simply write off Moreno as he can be a fantasy asset in Miami's new offense but expecting him to be the starter Week 1 appears to be more unlikely by the minute.
| Gibson, Moreno nearing "full throttle" status|
Veteran WR, RB coming off surgeries
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jul 24, 3:30 pm
|HC Joe Philbin (suggests Miami has) no major injury worries regarding WR Brandon Gibson or RB Knowshon Moreno. "Not full throttle 100% reps yet but won't be too long." (Armando Salguero on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Gibson is recovering from a torn patellar tendon, so he should be considered more week-to-week. The ex-Ram built solid chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill before going down, but could easily lose third-receiver duties to rookie Jarvis Landry if he struggles in camp. Moreno was given a 4-5 week timeline for an offseason knee scope and appears to be a ways behind Lamar Miller atop the depth chart. Moreno is shaping up to be an unexciting fantasy RB4 this season.
| Moreno to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery|
Expected to miss 4-5 weeks
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jun 23, 9:35 pm
|RB Knowshon Moreno will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week and miss 4-5 weeks. The Dolphins hope to have Moreno back in time for the start of the preseason. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: At least now we finally have a reason as to why Moreno was a little heavy for offseason workouts - his knee was never truly healthy. Lamar Miller was running with the first team for most of OTAs, but at least Moreno has a realistic shot at fighting for the starting spot with the 4-5 week timetable. Assuming Moreno is healthy in time for camp, there's a good chance he'll be part of a committee attack with Miller this season.

Moreno's knee injury "bad" according to source
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jun 20, 8:58 am
|Talked to a source who has seen Knowshon Moreno's knee. Said it's "bad." Prob will play, but the issue is how long. (Jason Cole via Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: There still isn't any concrete word from the Dolphins but various reports suggest that Moreno's left knee is the issue and he may visit with a doctor next week. Moreno signed a one-year deal during the off-season. Lamar Miller ran with the first team during mini-camp this week.
