|A big development has surfaced since I covered Green in a free agent fantasy impact article earlier this spring. That development was off-season ankle surgery that has put Green on the sideline for OTAs and mini-camp. Not a great look for a guy coming into a complex offense that was already having a difficult time making an impact in the NFL over his first four seasons. Despite his seemingly yearly quest to “break out”, Green finally finds himself in a role he should be able to flourish in. For years the athletically challenged Heath Miller was able to carve out 100-target, 50-catch seasons in this offense, and one would assume those would be the floor for Green. I’m still intrigued by Green, especially at such a fickle fantasy position, but pay close attention to his health, and role on the offense this summer in camp before you devote a significant draft resource to him.

TE still in concussion prototcol

|Told no last minute surprise. Steelers' playmaking TE will be out. (Aditi Kinkhabwala on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Once Ladarius Green missed practice on Friday we knew it was unlikely he'd suit up against Miami on Sunday. In his absence Jesse James and Xavier Grimble will handle the tight end duties.
| Ladarius Green remains in concussion protocol|
Missed practice Friday
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jan 6, 1:00 pm
|Ladarius Green did not practice Friday, and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after practice Green is questionable for the AFC wild-card game Sunday afternoon against the Dolphins. "He's in the protocol," Tomlin said. "Part of the protocol is practice. He practiced yesterday. We didn't get the type of results we wanted. He remains in the protocol. His status for the game is questionable." (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)|
FFToday's Take: After early week optimism, it appears that Green will miss the wildcard game against the Dolphins. He missed the final two regular season games as well. In his absence, Jesse James and Xavier Grimble will handle the tight end duties but neither is a recommended fantasy option.
| Ladarius Green close to return|
Practiced on Wednesday

|Tight end Ladarius Green, who missed the final two games of the regular season with a concussion, is one step closer to being cleared to return for the playoffs after going through a full practice with the rest of his Steelers teammates Wednesday. (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)|
FFToday's Take: The Steelers tight end needs to be cleared by an independent doctor but all signs point to him being back on the field this Sunday against the Dolphins. he'll be a top fantasy tight end option behind Jimmy Graham. WR Sammie Coates was also at practice Wednesday and should play as well.

Steelers TE could see first action of 2016 against the Cowboys
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 8, 2:05 pm
|Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) on Twitter: "Good news for Steelers: TE Ladarius Green and LB Bud Dupree have a chance to play this week" (Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Green isn't a must-own by any stretch, but he's the kind of talent who could shake up the TE ranks and provide a spark during the final third of the season and the fantasy playoffs. He'll be behind Jesse James with a chance to supplant him as the go-to passing TE.
