2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
A big development has surfaced since I covered Green in a free agent fantasy impact article earlier this spring. That development was off-season ankle surgery that has put Green on the sideline for OTAs and mini-camp. Not a great look for a guy coming into a complex offense that was already having a difficult time making an impact in the NFL over his first four seasons. Despite his seemingly yearly quest to “break out”, Green finally finds himself in a role he should be able to flourish in. For years the athletically challenged Heath Miller was able to carve out 100-target, 50-catch seasons in this offense, and one would assume those would be the floor for Green. I’m still intrigued by Green, especially at such a fickle fantasy position, but pay close attention to his health, and role on the offense this summer in camp before you devote a significant draft resource to him.

Injury Ladarius Green wants to return
Played only six games in first year of four-year contract
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jan 23, 7:05 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
TE Ladarius Green wants to return to the Steelers in 2017 and isn't contemplating retirement despite suffering concussion-related issues with two different NFL teams. Green averaged 16.9 yards per catch for the Steelers before missing the last five games after taking a hit in Cincinnati in Week 15. Concussion protocol kept Green out of Sunday's 36-17 AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots. "Frustrating season, but everybody has one. I hope it's the only one I have," Green said. "I'm going to go train as soon as I get home, and hopefully next season works out a lot better." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Green is a top-five NFL tight end in terms of talent, but his durability is a huge question mark. Regardless of whether he makes it through the spring and summer with no further injury issues, owners will probably be reluctant to invest anything more than a late-round pick into such an injury-plagued player in fantasy drafts. He'll be worth a flier if that is the case and can certainly be a TE1 in fantasy if he could ever put together a 16-game season.

Injury Ladarius Green expected to sit

For the Steelers, LB James Harrison (shoulder, triceps) should be good to go, while TE Ladarius Green (concussion, illness) shouldn't be. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Green was able to practice twice this week but just like the last four weeks he will sit on Sunday. Jesse James will serve as the Steelers tight end against the Patriots.

Injury Steelers will be without Ladarius Green
TE still in concussion prototcol

Told no last minute surprise. Steelers' playmaking TE will be out. (Aditi Kinkhabwala on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Once Ladarius Green missed practice on Friday we knew it was unlikely he'd suit up against Miami on Sunday. In his absence Jesse James and Xavier Grimble will handle the tight end duties.

Injury Ladarius Green remains in concussion protocol
Missed practice Friday
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jan 6, 1:00 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Ladarius Green did not practice Friday, and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after practice Green is questionable for the AFC wild-card game Sunday afternoon against the Dolphins. "He's in the protocol," Tomlin said. "Part of the protocol is practice. He practiced yesterday. We didn't get the type of results we wanted. He remains in the protocol. His status for the game is questionable." (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

FFToday's Take: After early week optimism, it appears that Green will miss the wildcard game against the Dolphins. He missed the final two regular season games as well. In his absence, Jesse James and Xavier Grimble will handle the tight end duties but neither is a recommended fantasy option.

Injury Ladarius Green close to return
Practiced on Wednesday
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Jan 4, 2:14 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Tight end Ladarius Green, who missed the final two games of the regular season with a concussion, is one step closer to being cleared to return for the playoffs after going through a full practice with the rest of his Steelers teammates Wednesday. (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)

FFToday's Take: The Steelers tight end needs to be cleared by an independent doctor but all signs point to him being back on the field this Sunday against the Dolphins. he'll be a top fantasy tight end option behind Jimmy Graham. WR Sammie Coates was also at practice Wednesday and should play as well.
