2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
After nearly three identical statistical seasons, itís safe to assume fantasy owners should have a great handle on the worth of Gio Bernard. Since his rookie season in 2013, Bernard is good for an average of 164 carries, 49 catches, 1100 total yards, and 5 touchdowns per season. His overall fantasy finishes have also been remarkably consistent coming in at 22nd overall, 18th overall, and 16th overall respectively. Iím just going to go with the flow here and say the Bengals have figured out the formula to get the most out of Bernard and his usage should remain mostly the same in 2016. Even with Hill struggling most of 2015, Gio saw only three games of 10-plus carries after Week 5, so I donít see his work on the ground increasing. I do see an uptick in catches though, as heís currently the second-best healthy pass receiver on the roster. This gives him incredible value in PPR leagues. If Bernard can find the end zone a little more frequently (only 2 visits in 2015), and surpass his career high of 56 receptions, he could easily crack the top-15 standard rankings at the running back position, making him an extremely high floor RB2. A long-term injury to backfield mate Jeremy Hill could vault Bernard into the RB1 conversation, but for now, consider him a safe pick at a very volatile fantasy position.

Injury Rex Burkhead ready to fill Bernard's shoes
Bengals ST standout looking to contribute on offense
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 22, 10:45 am

Cincinnati Bengals
All eyes are on Rex Burkhead, Giovani Bernardís good friend, because heís the guy that is going to take his place as that jack-of-all-trades-third-down back that must catch run, catch, and block. (Bengals.com)

FFToday's Take: Burkhead has emerged as a special teams staple the past two seasons, where heís showed his reliability and smarts, and heís their teams leading tackler this season. His hands have been on display every preseason and there has been a murmur after that stint in the slot to get him on the field more. The Bengals are confident he'll be involved, and that puts him on the radar as an RB3.

Injury Giovani Bernard done for the season
Torn left ACL
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 21, 7:50 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green wasnít the only offensive star the Cincinnati Bengals lost on Sunday. RB Giovani Bernard tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and is done for the season, a person with knowledge of the injury told USA TODAY Sports. (USA Today)

FFToday's Take: Bernard was still in the game as the Bengals were running their two-minute drill with less than a minute remaining and wasn't known to be hurt after the game, so this one comes as a bit of a shocker. Rex Burkhead (finally) may come into some fantasy relevancy - he operated as a receiver for a banged-up Cincinnati offense in the playoffs a few years ago - but Bernard's absence leaves Jeremy Hill's owners as big winners with this news.

Injury Bengals lose Giovani Bernard, torn ACL
Bengals hit hard by injury bug
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 20, 10:00 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
On one of their final plays of the game in a 16-12 loss to the Bills, they reportedly lost running back Giovani Bernard for the season. The Enquirer confirmed an initial NFL Network report late Sunday night that Bernard suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament after bringing in a 7-yard catch from Andy Dalton with 58 seconds remaining. (Cincinnati Enquirer)

FFToday's Take: It was a brutal week for injuries and the Bengals got hit the most with A.J. Green (hamstring) and losing on half of their running back tandem, Giovani Bernard. Jeremy Hill should see an uptick in usage over the final seven weeks of the season. Rex Burkhead could also see an increase in snaps.
