2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
After nearly three identical statistical seasons, itís safe to assume fantasy owners should have a great handle on the worth of Gio Bernard. Since his rookie season in 2013, Bernard is good for an average of 164 carries, 49 catches, 1100 total yards, and 5 touchdowns per season. His overall fantasy finishes have also been remarkably consistent coming in at 22nd overall, 18th overall, and 16th overall respectively. Iím just going to go with the flow here and say the Bengals have figured out the formula to get the most out of Bernard and his usage should remain mostly the same in 2016. Even with Hill struggling most of 2015, Gio saw only three games of 10-plus carries after Week 5, so I donít see his work on the ground increasing. I do see an uptick in catches though, as heís currently the second-best healthy pass receiver on the roster. This gives him incredible value in PPR leagues. If Bernard can find the end zone a little more frequently (only 2 visits in 2015), and surpass his career high of 56 receptions, he could easily crack the top-15 standard rankings at the running back position, making him an extremely high floor RB2. A long-term injury to backfield mate Jeremy Hill could vault Bernard into the RB1 conversation, but for now, consider him a safe pick at a very volatile fantasy position.

Jeremy Hill expected to have "huge year"
RB impressed during offseason program
By: Doug Orth | Mon Jul 25, 4:55 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
(Jeremy Hill) looked really good during offseason program on the field and handled it all pretty well off. I expect huge year. (Paul Dehner Jr. on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Coincidental or not, Hill amassed touch totals of 22, 19 and 21 in games Tyler Eifert missed last year, while Giovani Bernard accumulated six, 18 and 12, respectively, in those same contests. The Bengals are expected to go more run-heavy anyway this season as a result of losing Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu. And while Hill was disappointing from a yardage perspective, he scored 12 touchdowns in a "down year". He's a solid bet to outperform his sixth-round ADP.

More two-back sets in Bengals' future?
Bernard and Hill could be used in tandem to cover for Eifert's absence
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jun 30, 3:10 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Thereís a distinct possibility youíll see more of Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill in the same backfield as they try to make up for the loss of Pro Bowl TE Tyler Eifert. But I donít think offensive coordinator Ken Zampese is going to tip his hand on that much during the preseason and I donít think backup Tyler Kroft should be underestimated as a solid down-field threat that can get them through a couple of games without Eifert. (Bengals.com)

FFToday's Take: A lot of teams talk about using both of their running backs at the same time, but there's a strong case to be made for the Bengals to do so without Eifert. Cincinnati has to make up for the losses of Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu somehow, and it may not be realistic to expect Brandon LaFell and rookie Tyler Boyd to be ready for that responsibility right away. Hill and Bernard both have early-sixth round ADPs in PPR, which sounds about right under a new play-caller like Zampese.
