2018 Outlook
Depth Chart
After rising to low-end TE1 prominence in 2016, Doyle followed up that season by improving his fantasy scoring despite worse quarterback play. With Brissett under center, Doyle had seven games with more than 6 fantasy points and he averaged 7.2 targets per game. However, his efficiency dipped in 2017 with the expanded role. Despite having 33 more targets, he scored 1 fewer TD and he dropped from 9.9 yards per reception to 8.6. With Luck back under center, there's hope that the team will have more scoring opportunities and that Doyle could become a primary option in the redzone.

Doyle's ADP sits at TE15 in the 13th round and with Luck back, that's a decent price for him. As a TE2 draft capital, Doyle can be used as a streaming option to mix-and-match matchups throughout the year or he can be easily discarded if his target share significantly dips. If you typically wait on the position, Doyle should be a prime target with his first two matchups being against the 13th (GB) and 6th (SEA) best matchups for TE scoring.

Injury Jack Doyle headed to IR
Kidney injury required hospitalization following Week 12
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 26, 8:10 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Colts coach Frank Reich announced tight end Jack Doyle suffered a kidney injury in Sunday’s game and required hospitalization Sunday evening. Doyle underwent “a procedure to control the injury,” Reich said. Doyle, he said, is doing well and the prognosis is good, but Doyle will be placed on injured reserve. (Stephen Holder - The Athletic)

FFToday's Take: Doyle sustained a hit late in the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the Miami Dolphins and reportedly has yet to be released from the hospital. His absence figures to make Eric Ebron a full-time player once again and returns him to elite TE1 status. Owners in deeper leagues could also roll the dice on Mo Alie-Cox as tight ends have become the apple of Andrew Luck's eye in the red zone.

Injury Doyle and Vinatieri expected to play in Week 8
Colts get starting TE back
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 26, 12:10 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Per coach Frank Reich, Adam Vinatieri likely will play Sunday. Same with Jack Doyle. Malik Hooker, Ryan Grant, Erik Swoope, Robert Turbin among those ruled out. (Zak Keefer on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Doyle's availability throws cold water on Eric Ebron's ceiling making both uncomfortable low-end TE1s against the Raiders. Doyle dominated snaps between the two before his hip injury but Ebron won the TD battle.

Injury Jack Doyle could return in Week 8
Sidelined since Week 2 with hip injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 25, 7:25 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has a chance to get another one of his favorite targets back this week against the Oakland Raiders. For the first time in five weeks, Jack Doyle was back on the practice field Wednesday. Doyle, who suffered a hip injury in the first half of the Washington game in Week 2, was healthy enough to get out on the practice field and haul in passes from Luck. There is cautious optimism from the Indianapolis staff about the tight end’s return. “I think there’s a chance that he’ll play,” Colts coach Frank Reich said. (The Indianapolis Star)

FFToday's Take: Doyle was limited in practice on Thursday as well. In his absence, Eric Ebron has emerged as a force. With that said, Doyle is something of a security blanket for Luck and on par with T.Y. Hilton in terms of being his most trusted pass-catcher. His return would likely make Ebron more of a low-end TE1 and remove Chester Rogers from fantasy relevancy, but it would also add a high-upside option to a position in fantasy that desperately needs it.

Injury Ryan Grant out, optimism on T.Y. Hilton
Hilton battling hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 19, 1:50 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Frank Reich: OUT this seek, Ryan Grant, Denico Autry, Clayton Geathers, Robert Turbin, Jack Doyle. Optimistic T.Y. Hilton will be ready to go. (Mike Chappell on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Hilton will returning to action this week after missing weeks 5 and 6 with a hamstring injury. Hilton will have a difficult matchup against Tre'Davious White and a Bills defense that's given up the 2nd fewest fantasy points to wide receivers.

Injury Hilton, Doyle, Mack all out for Week 5
Colts missing three starters on offense
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Oct 3, 3:30 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Colts Pro Bowl receiver T.Y. Hilton has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the New England Patriots because of a hamstring injury. Others who will not play Thursday also include running back Marlon Mack (hamstring), tight end Jack Doyle (hip), offensive lineman Denzelle Good (personal -- brother killed Tuesday), cornerback Quincy Wilson (concussion), defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway (calf) and cornerback Kenny Moore II (concussion). (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The Colts have one of the weakest skill position player groups in the league. On Thursday night, they'll be rolling out Ryan Grant and Chester Rogers as their starting wide receivers. Tight end Eric Ebron and running back Nyheim Hines should see quit a bit of work in the passing game.

Injury Jack Doyle out for Week 4
Foot injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 28, 12:30 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Colts HC Frank Reich: OUT vs. Texans. Anthony Castonzo, Joe Haeg, Hassan Ridgeway, Quincy WIlson, Jack Doyle. (Mike Chappell on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Doyle will miss once again with a foot injury, meaning Eric Ebron should be a fine TE play in Week 4 against the Texans. Doyle saw 11 targets last week in the dink and dunk Colts offense with Doyle on the sidelines. The Texans have given up the 7th most fantasy points to tight ends through three weeks.

Injury Jack Doyle, Marlon Mack out for Week 3
Eric Ebron becomes viable TE1
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 21, 1:04 pm

Indianapolis Colts
The following are OUT for Sunday. DT/DE Denico Autry T Anthony Castonzo TE Jack Doyle RB Marlon Mack DT Hassan Ridgeway CB Quincy Wilson (Jim Irsay on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Straight from the owners mouth. The loss of Doyle vaults Eric Ebron into a viable TE1 option against the Eagles. Ebron has played a fraction of the snaps of Dolye through two weeks, but Ebron should be on the field more the majority of snaps in Week 3. The Colts running game gets narrowed to Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines but it's difficult to trust either back as anything more than a flex option.

Injury T.Y., Mack, Doyle miss practice Thursday
Colts starters dealing with injuries
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Sep 20, 3:00 pm

Indianapolis Colts
Friday's the big day, but it's not a good thing that so many front-liners didn't go again today. Among them: Anthony Castonzo, T.Y. Hilton, Marlon Mack, Jack Doyle, Denico Autry (Mike Chappell on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Hilton is dealing with a quad injury, Mack is nursing his hamstring injury along with a foot issue while Doyle has missed the last two days with a hip injury. If any of the players miss on Friday it will open their door for namely for Eric Ebron and Jordan Wilkins to see an increase in opportunities on Sunday against the Eagles.
