| James is hanging around due to the departure of Bobby Rainey as the team’s third string runner. The team lost confidence in James due to ball control problems and eventually released him shortly after the 2015 season began. He eventually worked his way back onto the roster but he never saw the field. James will be amongst a rather unimpressive group of tailback options that includes Storm Johnson, Dan Vitale and undrafted free agent rookie Peyton Barber. Johnson has never proven himself as a capable backup in the NFL and makes this battle rather dull for fantasy purposes. A rookie sixth-rounder from Northwestern University, Vitale is slotted for a hybrid H-back type of role. Those types of players are extremely inconsistent and won’t offer much promise to the fantasy community in 2016. Meanwhile, the five-foot eleven-inch rookie Barber could become a worthwhile project for the team to develop if he can make the team out of camp.
| Bucs RB Doug Martin returns to practice|
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Nov 9, 5:30 pm
|Doug Martin returned to practice for the first time since injuring his hamstring in Week 2.
Bucs coach Dirk Koetter told reporters that Martin was limited in Wednesday's practice session, but he wouldn't speculate on whether Martin would be available to play against the Chicago Bears this week.
FFToday's Take: Tampa Bay desperately needs a healthy running back after the team lost Antone Smith to injury last week. Unless Doug Martin is able to fully participate on Friday the Bucs will turn to Peyton Barber and Mike James to handle the rushing duties versus the Bears in Week 10. Even if Martin is cleared, he may be on a snap count so keep a close eye on his progress as the weekend approaches.
| Jacquizz Rodgers ruled out by Bucs|
Foot injury leaves Bucs with RBBC
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Nov 2, 2:49 pm
|The Buccaneers won’t have Jacquizz Rodgers in the lineup against the Falcons on Thursday night.
Rodgers injured his foot in last Sunday’s loss to the Raiders and there was enough concern about his condition that the Bucs moved quickly to bring Mike James back into the organization. Rodgers was ruled out with the release of the Buccaneers’ official injury report for the NFC South matchup.

FFToday's Take: After losing their top three running backs, Tampa Bay heads into Thursday night hoping that Peyton Barber, Antone Smith and Mike James can form a productive RBBC. Both Barber and Smith received touches last week and would likely split the bulk of the workload Week 9.
|Bucs waive RB Mike James, sign WR Cecil Shorts|
Backend depth chart moves
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 7, 12:30 pm
|Agent for Jacquizz Rodgers says no news yet on a signing from Bucs, who worked him out Tuesday and waived Mike James with an injury today. (Greg Auman on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Back-end of the depth chart moves here. James was the third tailback behind Doug Martin and Charles Sims. Expect the Bucs to add a running back in the next few days, perhaps Rodgers or someone from the practice squad. Shorts signed a one-year deal and could compete with Adam Humphries for the No. 3 receiver job.
