|A fantasy no name in 2013, Wilson barely registered on the stat sheet as he finished the season with two catches and 13 yards. Don't be shocked if he surpasses those numbers in the first half of the opener against the Bills. Thanks to the emergence of teammate Alshon Jeffrey (similar frame and skillset) and release of Cutler-favorite Earl Bennett, fantasy owners have noticed Wilson this preseason. Expected to win the WR3 job, Wilson remains someone to keep an eye on, if not during your draft, then during the season as a waiver pickup. Should an injury befall Brandon Marshall or Jeffrey, the towering former seventh-round pick could have the opportunity to make a prepared fantasy owner very happy.

Injury to Bears WR opens door for Santonio Holmes
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 18, 3:25 pm
|Veteran WR Santonio Holmes has a good chance to be more than a stopgap for the Chicago Bears if he shows enough over the next couple weeks to make the roster. Marquess Wilson — the smooth, speedy offseason standout who had been in line for the Bears' No. 3 receiver job — is likely to be sidelined until at least midseason. Wilson broke his collarbone in three places when he was injured in practice two weeks ago. He had surgery Aug. 5 and the initial timeline for recovery was set at 12 to 14 weeks.
FFToday's Take: It's not a crippling blow to the Bears' high-powered offense, but it is a notable one. Wilson figured to be able to stretch the field and make teams think twice before overcommitting to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Holmes' career has been sidetracked due to injury, although he has a great opportunity to contribute if he can nail down the No. 3 job in Chicago. He's off the redraft radar for now, but don't forget about him either.

Former Jets' receiver worked out for Bears last week

|The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with former New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

FFToday's Take: Holmes found the free agent market cold this off-season but will get a chance to stick with the Bears now that No.3 wideout Marquess Wilson is out with a broken collarbone. Eric Weems was working in the slot for the Bears on Thursday night. Holmes is nothing more than a WR5 at this point and will go undrafted in most leagues.

Bears' young third receiver likely sidelined 6-8 weeks

FFToday's Take: Wilson had been generating some serious buzz throughout the offseason and is still expected to be the main backup to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, although this injury figures to sideline him into the regular season. At any rate, Wilson still warrants a late-round pick in redraft leagues as a huge-upside player in a very strong passing offense.
