| Devonta Freeman expected back this week|
Falcons workhorse RB may lose some touches to Tevin Coleman

|Devonta Freeman is expected to clear the league concussion protocol program by the middle of the week, according to Falcons coach Dan Quinn. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)|
FFToday's Take: Rookie Tevin Coleman ran well in his stead during Week 12, but lost a fumble. He should get a few more touches than in previous weeks, but Freeman is the clear workhorse and if he's ready to go, should assume at least 15-20 touches.

Tevin Coleman set for heavy workload
By: John Canario | Fri Nov 27, 3:50 pm
|The flailing Atlanta Falcons lost their punch in last Sunday's loss to the Colts after Devonta Freeman left with a concussion. The league's sixth-leading rusher won't help this weekend, either, with coach Dan Quinn confirming that Freeman won't suit up at home against the Minnesota Vikings, per NFL Media's Tiffany Blackmon. Freeman hasn't practiced all week, leaving rookie Tevin Coleman in line for a big workload ahead of fellow rookie Terron Ward. (NFL.com)|
FFToday's Take: Despite a poor showing last week, Coleman has turned in some respectable performances this season in limited action. He should get 15 to 20 touches this weekend and is shaping up as a mid-level RB2.

Falcons preparing for Tevin Coleman to start

|Quinn: Devonta Freeman won't practice today. We are preparing that he won't play Sunday. #MINvsATL (Atlanta Falcons on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Freeman will miss practice Thursday after suffering a concussion last week against the Colts. Tevin Coleman will get the start this week and is worthy of RB2 consideration based on the volume the running back position receives in the Falcons offense. Coleman's averaging 3.9 yards per carry and looked less than stellar in relief of Freeman last week.
| Freeman "off to good start" in concussion protocol|
Falcons RB left early in Week 11

|Quinn: Devonta Freeman will go through the concussion protocol this week. He's off to a good start with that. (Atlanta Falcons on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: The top fantasy running back left early in Week 11 with a concussion. He was replaced by Tevin Coleman who couldn't get anything going against the Colts, rushing for 48 yards on 17 carries. It sounds like Freeman will be able to suit up in Week 12 against Minnesota assuming he passes all concussion tests.
| Julio Jones "not sure" for Thursday night game|
Passing game getting cloudy for Falcons
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 13, 11:05 am
|Ed Werder reported that Atlanta Falcons HC Dan Quinn seems encouraged about Julio Jones hamstring, but the short prep week means he's no sure thing for Thursday night. (Ed Werder on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Quinn told Werder it's "Gonna be close. Not sure he can go," which clouds the fantasy picture for the Falcons and even Matt Ryan in what should have been a prime matchup facing the hapless New Orleans Saints. Leonard Hankerson (ribs) is also hurting. This may be a good time for the Falcons to lean even more heavily on newfound scoring maven Devonta Freeman and rookie Tevin Coleman, who saw some snaps in Week 5 after sitting out a couple games with a rib injury.

Rib injury could keep ATL RB out Week 4
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 30, 1:00 pm
|It seems as though round two of Devonta Freeman's run as the full-time running back for the Atlanta Falcons is upon us. While many were curious when Tevin Coleman could return from his rib injury, it's seeming unlikely to happen this week.
According to the Falcons' official Twitter account, Coleman once again sat out practice on Wednesday. (Fox Sports)|
FFToday's Take: Coleman's rib injury allowed Freeman to take over the starting running back job in Week 3. Freeman responded with 193 total yards and 3 TDs against the Cowboys. He'll be a RB2 with RB1 upside against the Texans if Coleman sits.

Rib injury may cost RB a couple weeks
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 25, 12:40 pm
|Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn officially ruled out rookie running back Tevin Coleman and wide receiver/return specialist Devin Hester for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: Coleman will likely miss a couple games after breaking a rib in last week's game against the Giants. Devonta Freeman now has a volume opportunity this week against an improved Dallas defense. He's a viable RB2 consideration.
| Tevin Coleman likely to miss at least two weeks|
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 21, 5:15 pm
|Atlanta Falcons HC Dan Quinn said Monday that Tevin Coleman has a fractured rib and declined to put a timetable on the running back's return. Coleman's return depends on his pain threshold, Quinn said.
While Quinn wouldn't put a time frame on Coleman's absence, the running back is expected to miss a couple of weeks. Coleman will sit out practices Wednesday and Thursday of this week, Quinn said.
Quinn said he does not anticipate signing another running back at this time. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: Despite Quinn's "anticipation" the Falcons will not add another back, it is likely they will; UDFA Terron Ward is the only other running back on the roster behind new starter Devonta Freeman. Atlanta expressed some interest in ex-Bronco Montee Ball earlier this month and could revisit signing him at some point this week.
