2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
After a rookie campaign that showed flashes of feature back potential and a solid off-season, Devonta Freeman appears to be the leader in the clubhouse for the starting role in Atlantaís backfield. The second-year back from Florida State will be in competition with rookie Tevin Coleman throughout the preseason, but it appears Freemanís ability to pass protect as well as catch the ball out of the backfield are giving him the early edge to receive more snaps. With new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan at the helm, the Falcons are not only stressing "balance" in their offensive philosophy but are also implementing the famed "zone blocking scheme" that has made 1,000-yard backs out of the likes of Steve Slaton, Mike Anderson, and Olandis Gary. With more emphasis on the run game combined with Freemanís explosive one-cut ability (which will be highlighted by the zone blocking scheme), look for Freeman to have some big games and keep the rookie at bay. Freeman will also provide more of a value in PPR leagues as he has earned high praise from the Falcons staff for his sure hands and crisp route running out of the backfield and slot position. Freeman is an intriguing option and could deliver solid RB2 fantasy output in the new look offense.

Injury Devonta Freeman back at practice
Falcons RB set to play Week 13
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 2, 12:35 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Quinn: Devonta Freeman has been cleared and will practice fully today. He's absolutely "jacked" about returning. (Atlanta Falcons on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Freeman missed last week's game with a concussion but will be back to his lead running back role in Week 13 against the Bucs. Freeman posted a 21-88 rushing line along with 6 receptions for 43 yards against Tampa Bay in Week 8.

Injury Devonta Freeman expected back this week
Falcons workhorse RB may lose some touches to Tevin Coleman

Atlanta Falcons
Devonta Freeman is expected to clear the league concussion protocol program by the middle of the week, according to Falcons coach Dan Quinn. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

FFToday's Take: Rookie Tevin Coleman ran well in his stead during Week 12, but lost a fumble. He should get a few more touches than in previous weeks, but Freeman is the clear workhorse and if he's ready to go, should assume at least 15-20 touches.

Injury Falcons' Devonta Freeman ruled out
Tevin Coleman set for heavy workload
By: John Canario | Fri Nov 27, 3:50 pm

Atlanta Falcons
The flailing Atlanta Falcons lost their punch in last Sunday's loss to the Colts after Devonta Freeman left with a concussion. The league's sixth-leading rusher won't help this weekend, either, with coach Dan Quinn confirming that Freeman won't suit up at home against the Minnesota Vikings, per NFL Media's Tiffany Blackmon. Freeman hasn't practiced all week, leaving rookie Tevin Coleman in line for a big workload ahead of fellow rookie Terron Ward. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Despite a poor showing last week, Coleman has turned in some respectable performances this season in limited action. He should get 15 to 20 touches this weekend and is shaping up as a mid-level RB2.

Injury Devonta Freeman likely to sit Week 12
Falcons preparing for Tevin Coleman to start
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 26, 9:49 am

Atlanta Falcons
Quinn: Devonta Freeman won't practice today. We are preparing that he won't play Sunday. #MINvsATL (Atlanta Falcons on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Freeman will miss practice Thursday after suffering a concussion last week against the Colts. Tevin Coleman will get the start this week and is worthy of RB2 consideration based on the volume the running back position receives in the Falcons offense. Coleman's averaging 3.9 yards per carry and looked less than stellar in relief of Freeman last week.

Injury Freeman "off to good start" in concussion protocol
Falcons RB left early in Week 11
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Nov 23, 1:45 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Quinn: Devonta Freeman will go through the concussion protocol this week. He's off to a good start with that. (Atlanta Falcons on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The top fantasy running back left early in Week 11 with a concussion. He was replaced by Tevin Coleman who couldn't get anything going against the Colts, rushing for 48 yards on 17 carries. It sounds like Freeman will be able to suit up in Week 12 against Minnesota assuming he passes all concussion tests.
