|Reed: Chiefs will keep feeding Kareem Hunt|
Team has no plans to scale back rookie's workload
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 26, 10:31 am
|The Chiefs don't plan on reducing rookie running back Kareem Hunt's workload anytime soon. Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked Monday if the Chiefs have to be careful with how much they work they give the 5-foot-10, 208-pound Hunt - who leads in the NFL in rushing and is on pace to record 299 touches this season.
“No, I think we’re OK with how we’re using him,” Reid said, adding that they're still getting Charcandrick West his for reps, and have plans to mix in Akeem Hunt as a third back if he develops. (Kansas City Star)|
FFToday's Take: Hunt is a Top 5 back right now for fantasy purposes and there's no reason to assume he's going to lose any touches moving forward.
|Chiefs OC hints at RBBC in opener|
"They all know they are a big part of this game plan."

|Rookie Kareem Hunt will start but otherwise one of the unknowns surrounding the Chiefs heading into Thursday night’s game against the Patriots is how they will divide the playing time at running back. The Chiefs are again at three backs after re-signing C.J. Spiller. But Spiller has never played for the Chiefs and Hunt has never played in the NFL at all. The known quantity among their backs is Charcandrick West, who led the Chiefs in rushing in 2015. OC Matt Nagy indicated all three backs would play. “They’re all prepared to play. They all know they’re a big part of this game plan. ... We have a group of guys that can all play well and we trust them at all positions." (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: Great timing for Labor Day (and after) drafters, who might be able to use this nugget to their advantage. Hunt has seen his stock skyrocket to the early second round in some drafts, so this could take a bit of air out of that balloon. However, all we have to do is look back to last year when Spencer Ware and West "shared" the backfield work early before the former quickly pulled away. It may take until October, but Hunt should have be able to live up to his RB1 hype.
| Torn PCL for Spencer Ware, likely out for the year|
Chiefs RB will get second opinion
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Aug 27, 11:33 am
|Spencer Ware has a torn PCL in addition to other damage. He'll get a second opinion, but it's thought to be season ending, per @proatc. (BJ Kissel on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Listening to Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder, it sounds like their may be other ligament damage in his knee. Ware will get a second opinion but its likely he will require surgery and be lost for the year. This news moves Kareem Hunt up to the No.1 RB in the Chiefs offense and puts Hunt in the discussion of high-end RB2s. It's not out of the question for the Chiefs to bring a free agent, but for now Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller fill out the depth chart behind Hunt.
