Injury Gametime decision for Starks
Knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Nov 13, 8:20 am

Green Bay Packers
The #Packers are hopeful that RB James Starks makes his return following knee surgery today, source said, but they want to see him warmup. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Packers running game has been a committee of Aaron Rodgers, Ty Montgomery Aaron Ripkowski and Don Jackson. Even if Starks is active it's unlikely he'll make a big fantasy impact.

Injury No limitations for Cobb this week
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 11, 11:00 am

Green Bay Packers
No limitations on Packers receiver Randall Cobb (hamstring) this week. "He's going to play as a full-time player," coach Mike McCarthy said. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Cobb was limited last week and didn't even play in the first half. With him being a full-go, the value of Davante Adams takes a hit. Cobb and Ty Montgomery are on the WR2 radar.

Injury James Starks on the practice field Wednesday
Knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 9, 12:15 pm

Green Bay Packers
Sounds like James Starks and Jared Cook have a chance to play this week at Tennessee. "James is going to practice (today), we'll see it goes. Same with Jared," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "We're going to put them in the limited category, but we're going to cut them loose today." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: How Starks responds on Thursday will be key for his availability on Sunday against the Titans. The Packers have all but abandoned the running game since losing Starks and Eddie Lacy to injury. If Starks does return Sunday, he'll be tough to trust as a Flex option given how well Ty Montgomery has performed.

Injury Ty Montgomery was on snap count Week 9
Limited to 10 touches and 31 snaps in loss to Colts
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 7, 5:15 pm

Green Bay Packers
HC Mike McCarthy: We had (Ty Montgomery) on a rep count and rightfully so. We like the way he played. (Packers on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Montgomery missed Week 8 with complications brought on by his sickle-cell trait, but it is hard to imagine why that was enough of a reason for McCarthy to keep their most effective offensive player limited to 31 snaps. Sickle-cell trait has only dramatically affected athletes in high altitude or extreme cold to this point, neither of which was in play Sunday. With James Starks expected back soon, it is unclear how much longer Montgomery will remain Green Bay's "lead back".

Injury Cobb will be a game-time decision
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 4, 11:00 am

Green Bay Packers
Randall Cobb looks like a bigger question mark than Ty Montgomery to play Sunday against the Colts. "Ty's looking good," coach Mike McCarthy said. But he added that Cobb will be a game-time decision. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Cobb has been limited in practice this week and making matters worse for fantasy owners, the Packers and Colts play late afternoon on Sunday. It sounds like Cobb is on the wrong side of the questionable tag so Cobb owners should have plan B in place. WR/RB Ty Montgomery is expected to play.

Injury Ty Montgomery expected to be Week 9 lead RB
James Starks, Jared Cook making progress
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 3, 8:05 pm

Green Bay Packers
RB James Starks and TE Jared Cook made their return to practice Thursday, taking part in some individual drills at the start of the workout. While their return signals they are making progress toward a return, it's unlikely it would happen this week against Indianapolis. Also, working extensively was WR/RB Ty Montgomery (illness). He didn't appear to be slowed at all and worked with the running backs in all their individual drills. Assuming he's cleared to play, Montgomery will probably be the lead running back Sunday with Don Jackson and fullback Aaron Ripkowski also seeing action in the backfield. (USA Today)

FFToday's Take: Montgomery could conceivably be the lead runner in Green Bay for the rest of the season based on how Starks played prior to his injury. As for now, Montgomery warrants WR2/RB2 consideration (assuming he has dual eligibility), especially in PPR leagues. If Starks returns to a starting job, he'll likely be a low-end flex option, while Cook will be in the TE2 discussion.

Packers dump Knile Davis
Traded to Green Bay less than two weeks ago
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 31, 5:35 pm

Green Bay Packers
The Packers need running back help -- but they don't need Knile Davis. The team on Monday released the veteran runner less than two weeks after acquiring Davis from the Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced. A source informed of the situation told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo that the compensation conditions of the trade ultimately were not met, so the Packers will not have to give up anything to the Chiefs. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: The fact Davis wasn't long for Green Bay isn't overly surprising, but the fact the team parted ways so quickly given its current running back situation makes it a bit more so. The move suggests the team must be confident both Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb will be ready for Week 9 and also feels good about James Starks making it back in another week or so. Davis should be able to latch onto another team (possibly even Kansas City), but he's going to remain well off the fantasy radar.

Injury Randall Cobb not expected to play
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 30, 8:00 am

Green Bay Packers
Packers' WR Randall Cobb is not expected to play Sunday vs. Falcons due to a hamstring injury, per source. Packers being careful with Cobb. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Cobb's absence means Ty Montgomery and Davante Adams should see more opportunities against the Falcons. Both are worthy WR2 plays in a game with the highest total (52) on the board.
