2018 Outlook
Depth Chart
The Ty Montgomery experiment had some high moments (Weeks 1 and 2) but mostly gets an incomplete for the season. With 18 receptions over the first three weeks it was abundantly clear Montgomery retained the ability to catch the ball after his transition from receiver. He even found the endzone twice, but from Week 4 on injuries to himself and his quarterback killed any fantasy value he may have had. Montgomery's biggest knock is his ability to prove he could handle the rigors of a starting running back, and that question mark certainly remains, as he missed a total of 11 games over the last two seasons. It looks like he's spent the offseason in Green Bay trying to build his body, but with both Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones back, and proving they have the talent to produce in the NFL, Montgomery finds himself smack dab in the middle of a muddled backfield. It's tough to gauge how this backfield shakes out, but it's clear Montgomery's best usage will come as a chess piece the Packers can move around. They are fully committed to this experiment, and if he can stay healthy he should catch 40+ passes, and his best returns should come as a strong FLEX play in PPR leagues, or in the RB3 area in standard leagues.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Alex Collins does not practice Thursday
Was limited in practice Wednesday with foot injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 1, 3:10 pm

Baltimore Ravens
Ravens RB Alex Collins (foot) isn't practicing Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. The Ravens' three healthy RBs are: Javorius Allen, Ty Montgomery and Gus Edwards. (ESPN - Jamison Hensley)

FFToday's Take: As is usually the case, his participation level Friday should tell the story as to whether he is getting maintenance days ahead of a critical Week 9 division game with the Steelers or not. With that said, a downgrade - especially to a DNP - is rarely ever a good sign. Allen would likely get the start if Collins can't go, but the former has seen his playing time cut in recent weeks. It may not take long for Montgomery to take his spot at Collins' primary handcuff.

Injury Packers trade Ty Montgomery to Ravens
Packers receive a 2020 seventh-round draft pick
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Oct 30, 2:10 pm

Baltimore Ravens
Source: The #Ravens are trading for #Packers RB Ty Montgomery. The RB help they’re looking for. The Packers will receive a 2020 seventh-round draft pick in return, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Ty Montgomery fumbled late in the fourth quarter on a kickoff return last week and now finds himself on the Ravens. This move gives some boost to Aaron Jones who will now share time with only Jamaal Williams.

Packers remaining committed to RBBC
Aaron Jones unlikely to see much increase in role
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 8, 7:50 pm

Green Bay Packers
Mike McCarthy on Aaron Jones: Way the game goes and strength of the players on the football. He's dynamic with the ball in his hands. But there's more to the position than just running the football. We have diversity in our attack with three guys. All have excellent attributes. (Tom Silverstein on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: As smitten as the fantasy community is with Jones, this should not be a surprise. Most believe Jamaal Williams is a bit of a coach's pet, but he's really not the problem. McCarthy's biggest mistake at the moment is believing he can find roles for three backs (Jones, Williams or Ty Montgomery) when he's not committing to getting the ball in their hands. Jones should not be considered anything more than a high-upside flex until further notice.

Injury Allison misses practice Saturday
Concussion, hamstring
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 7, 8:00 am

Green Bay Packers
Packers WR Geronimo Allison did not practice Saturday, per source. That means he hasn’t practiced at all this week. Not only has he been working through concussion protocol, a hamstring injury was added late in the week. His status for today remains Questionable. #GBvsDET (Stacy Dales on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Packers are one of the few teams that practice Saturday. It sounds like Allison will end up on the inactive list today leaving Davante Adams and rookie Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the starting wide receivers. The Packers could choose to focus on Adams, tight end Jimmy Graham and running back Ty Montgomery in the passing game.

Injury Packers having issues at WR
Adams, Cobb, Allison miss practice Thursday
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 4, 12:45 pm

Green Bay Packers
Packers’ HC Mike McCarthy said Davante Adams won’t practice today due to a calf injury and neither will Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Geronimo Allison (concussion). So Packers down their top three WRs today and maybe beyond. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Adams was injured Wednesday in practice meaning the Packers could be without their top 3 receivers in Week 5. We'll have to see who is able to go in practice Friday but WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling and RB Ty Montgomery could be more involved in the offense depending on who's able to suit up against the Lions on Sunday.

Aaron Jones to have "secondary role" on Sunday
Green Bay RB returns from suspension
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Sep 19, 12:15 pm

Green Bay Packers
McCarthy on #Packers backfield with Aaron Jones returning: "Jamaal and Ty have played good football. I know what Aaron gives us, but his role will be secondary. Jamaal and Ty will be in the first slot." (Ryan Wood on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jones returns from suspension this week, but it sounds like Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery will keep their places on the depth chart. Jones remains a hold in fantasy leagues and can't be trusted in Week 3.

Injury Montgomery's foot injury: nothing serious
Packer's RB leaves third pre-season game early
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Aug 25, 7:00 am

Green Bay Packers
Last night, #Packers RB Ty Montgomery left early with a foot injury. But post-game, coach Mike McCarthy said, “I'm told it's nothing of a serious nature." (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Montgomery left the Packers third pre-season game with an apparent foot injury and never. He'll likely be held out the final pre-season game in preparation for Week 1 where he'll share snaps with Jamaal Williams. Aaron Jones will serve a two-game suspension to start the season.
