2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
Letís assume Langford handles 55% of the running back snaps in 2016. That leaves another 45% or so of carries to the trio of Carey, Rodgers, and rookie Jordan Howard. Last year the top four backs for Chicago carried the ball a combined 423 times. If we assume Langford handles around 220, that leaves quite a few carries for the rest of the ball carriers. Rodgers is basically the odd man out here, as his bottom of the roster talent and usage from 2015 leave much to be desired. Carey, the third-year player from Arizona has been no more than a change-of-pace back without a solid role the past two seasons. He didnít see a significant uptick in touches between his rookie and second year.

This leaves us with Howard, the power back from Indiana selected in the 5th round. Possessing an intriguing size, speed combination, Howard was highly regarded during the pre-draft process, earning a second-third round grade. The Bears were able to nab him in Round 5, great value for a player who produced exceptional numbers in a Big 10 conference that featured some tremendous defenses. Howard gives Chicago, and John Fox the powerful, if not flashy back they lacked at times last season. Early reports indicate Howard will have the best chance to be the 1B to Langford. If he can prove his chops in the passing game, something Langford struggled with at times in 2015, Howard could certainly be a player to watch. This offense was able to support two top-25 running backs last year, so nab Howard for your roster as a value pick.

Injury Jordan Howard finally admits injury
Limped noticeably after suffering Achilles' injury in Week 10
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 17, 5:10 pm

Chicgao Bears
RB Jordan Howard on Thursday clarified what his playing status was during Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers. "I was just tight early in...the second half. Then I injured my Achilles a little bit at the end. Iím good now." After Howard lost a fumble at the 5:37 mark of the second quarter, he played four more snaps before noticeably limping on a fake handoff in the third quarter. Then he played sporadically during the remainder of the 36-10 loss, finishing with 100 yards on 15 carries. (Chicago Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Howard's response to HC John Fox's post-game assertion that his back was hurt was "Nah, I ain't suffer nothing." Classic. The rookie is one of the few things going well for the hapless Bears, but Achilles' injuries are no joke. Owners need to strongly consider adding Jeremy Langford in the meantime, as it is quite likely Chicago relies even more on the running game with Alshon Jeffery starting his four-game PED suspension this week.

Jordan Howard not listed on injury report
Bears running back puts in full practice Wednesday

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) ó Apparently, Bears running back Jordan Howard is OK after all. Coach John Fox offered a scare after Sundayís loss in Tampa Bay when he stated that Howard had sustained an ďankle or AchillesĒ injury. Howard expressed at the time that he was fine. When the Bears returned to work Wednesday, Howard was a full participant and not listed on the injury report. Fox confirmed that Howard participated in full. However, Fox later informed to the media in New York via teleconference that Howard was limited with soreness. (CBS Chicago)

FFToday's Take: This is a huge positive for the Bears and Jordan Howard's fantasy owners. Although he is still dealing with soreness (presumably in his ankle) it looks like he will be leading the charge when Chicago squares off against Big Blue this weekend. Howard should be in RB2 territory for Week 11 facing a New York defense that has allowed a rushing touchdown in three of their past four games.

Jordan Howard makes case for starting RB job
Bears committee might be breaking down to workhorse role
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 1, 11:10 am

Chicgao Bears
Jordan Howard finished with 153 rushing yards on 26 carries with a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He also gained 49 yards on four receptions. (Chicago Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Jeremy Langford had just one catch and no carries, and Ka'Deem Carey wasn't much of factor. Following the team's Week 9 bye, Howard should remain the lead back.

Injury Jeremy Langford practices Tuesday
Bears looking at full-blown committee at RB against tough Vikings D

Chicgao Bears
Chicago Tribune Bears reporter Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) on Twitter: "#Bears RB Jeremy Langford did participate in practice today and you sort of figured that after Joique Bell was let go." (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: That leaves Langford, Jordan Howard and Ka'Deem Carey all in one big committee splitting carries against the stalwart Vikings run defense. The chances of them achieving success and you correctly picking the guy who does the best is a lottery-pick situation. You'll probably find better options on your bench or somewhere on the waiver wire.
