|Elway committed to improving at quarterback|
Denver making changes after offense flounders in 2017
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Jan 3, 9:38 am
|The Denver Broncos laid the failure in 2017 at the feet of the quarterback. After watching Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch flounder all season, GM John Elway stated the obvious on Tuesday: Denver's "No. 1 goal" is to upgrade the QB spot this offseason. "I think there is no doubt we've got to get better at that position," Elway said, via the team's official website. "For us to have a chance to get better, we've got to get better at that position." FFToday's Take: Denver will be among the numerous teams entering the offseason with plans on adding a quarterback after the team posted a 76.0 QB-rating (31st in the NFL) and threw the most interceptions in the league. Denver's roster is in more of a "win now" phase so look for them to be active in free agency starting with Kirk Cousins (if he is not given franchise tag).
|Broncos expected to start Paxton Lynch|
QB recovering from ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Dec 26, 1:00 pm
|Sunday against the Chiefs, the Broncos expect to have Paxton Lynch under center to give the second-year quarterback another shot to prove himself before the year expires and the Broncos’ focus turns completely toward rebuilding. (Denver Post)|
FFToday's Take: Lynch has been recovering from a sprained ankle but "wasn't quite ready" last week. Unless there is a setback, it appears Lynch will start in Week 17. Lynch struggled in his Week 12 game against the Raiders before leaving due to injury. He won't be a viable QB option against the Chiefs this week.
| Signs point to Osweiler getting the start|
Lynch appears gimpy in practice
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 22, 3:00 pm
|All signs point to the Denver Broncos starting Brock Osweiler at quarterback Sunday at Washington.
Osweiler is expected to start not because he deserved the promotion after he came off the bench and led the Broncos to a 25-13, come-from-behind win last week at Indianapolis. He is expected to start because Paxton Lynch doesn’t appear quite healthy enough to play the bulk of a 60-minute game. (9 News in Denver)|
FFToday's Take: The Broncos have yet to name a starting QB but Lynch (ankle) appeared gimpy in practice. He split reps with Osweiler 50-50 during the week. If he's unable to go this week, expect Lynch to start Week 17 against the Chiefs. In related news, Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) appeared to be limited on Friday. He's a candidate for the Inactive list on Sunday.
